Kick Ass sound on DVD not sped up?

As those slightly more technical minded of you will know, films are always sped up slightly by 4% when released on DVD due to slight incompatability with PAL TV system used in Europe. This always causes the sound of a movie to also be sped up by 4%, hence the slight raise in pitch in the sound quality. (See more about it here:http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/article...PALSpeedUp.asp).

I noticed on the DVD of the movie Kick Ass, which I'm currently renting from Lovefilm, that the pitch is actually ran at its normal speed-this is the first time I can ever recall a DVD of an American film being ran at the correct speed in terms of sound pitch.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is it hard to do, lowering the pitch to its correct speed? I've heard they usually leave it sped up on Blu Rays as well, although some of them are able to run at 24fps (frames per second) rather than 25fps like conventional TV does.

Foir the record, I actually prefer sped up sound in movies, especially on music!

Kick Ass on DVD is actually sped up, the DVD has a running time of 112m 52s while the Blu Ray and Theatrical print have a running time of 117m 12s (the Blu Ray is actually 117m 41s). There isn't an Extended version of the film either, so this difference is definitely due to the PAL/NTSC frame rate difference.

Also, ALL Blu Rays run at the correct speed of 24fps (with a few rare exceptions).
