When is MS ditching the MS Points scheme?

I am sure I read somewhere that MS are going to ditch the points system for DLC purchases etc & replace it with normal debit card transactions but I can't remember where. It might have been on a youtube video lol

Anyone else heard about this & if so, do you know when they will do it? Soon I hope.

M$ released a statement saying that the rumour was not true, so probably not.

It's going to happen, I think toward the end of the year but no recent announcements.

I've read the same rumours as well, PencilBreath - but I don't think Microsoft will be ditching the points system any time soon.

I hope they don't m8. I, like many others, prefer buying points cards. I'm not too keen on having credit or debit card details connected to Live. It would be ok if they replace it with the same type of cards you get for PSN

If they did scrap the point scheme maybe they could do what Sony do for PSN with top up vouchers?

I don't think it would ever come to that, I see vouchers taking the place of points cards, but it's bad news for those who get the MSP on the cheap.

I thought they were supposed to be introducing PayPal as a payment method...?

They have, but in the Xbox Marketplace they still use M$ Points as a currency.

You use Paypal to buy M$ Points on the Xbox.

Although i did hear somewhere that, the points system was being dropped.

Let me get this right. Is it the points cards that are being dropped or the whole points thing ?. If it's the whole points thing then all the games and dlc available would have to be changed to $ and £'s. I hope to heck it isn't going to be a case of CC or Visa and nothing more than that. And what happens to the rewards scheme ?. How would that work out.

They had everything up for money purchase recently for a short time, they said it was a 'mistake', I wonder if that 'mistake' was them putting something live that shouldn't yet have been...

It's possible they may not even drop the point system, they already allow you to purchase Games on Demand with direct money, they could just extend that option to other areas of the marketplace, which would make sense.

Nope. XBox LIVE Rewards is still available. Microsoft has not announced any plans to drop this scheme.

Soz that's not what I was meaning. I meant that we get points as rewards Yeah so if the point system is changed would we get the equivalent points in money instead ?.
