I usually don't like it when artists re-release their albums, but this time I'm totally pleased. I was planning to buy her album a few months ago and then I read the rumours about the re-release and I decided to wait, so now I'll be able to get the album and all the extra tracks.

I hope the re-release will be well promoted in the States btw. Her album is quite overlooked there.

Due to the SNL performance. But I think it's sold about 300k there and I think it deserves much more. The album was far more successful in the UK than in the States.

Yeah... But I think selling over two million copies within 7 months of release is rather good for debut artists these days, especially for an artist like Lana who's songs aren't dance pop. Rihanna's album has been out 10 months, had a numerous of successful singles, tonns of promo & years to gather a following yet has only sold 900k+ copies of TTT. It's the right time for this re-release because it's not just an excuse to release songs, but to extend & promote the album as a whole.

Alot of US critics were totally against Lana for some reason. They just never gave her a chance. She said she was so grateful to the UK and Germany for accepting her.

The majority of the US critics are, basically, idiots. Just about every negative review of the album consisted of paragraph after paragraph on her privileged background/SNL/inauthenticity blah blah blah and approx 2 lines about the actual album. I'm so glad she's done so incredibly well all over the World. The album is superb and the success is totally and utterly deserved. She has unreleased songs that most artists would give their right arm to be able to write and release. And to be #3 in the YTD world album sales chart with such an insignificant contribution from the US is incredible.

Hate re-releases but love Lana. I will be first in the queue to buy this.

I wish they wouldn't go on about her priveledged background. Her father wasn't rich until she was an adult. When she moved to NYC she had nowhere to live until her old record company gave her a $10,000 advance so she bought a caravan and lived in a trailer park, she has gotten herself out of alcoholism and drugs and I admire her just for that, nevermind her music too!

I normally don't like things like this but any excuse to get more Lana songs gets a green light from me!

TTT has sold almost one million copies in USA, almost a million copies in the UK and reaching there in other parts of the world, but yes, Lana has been quite succesful for a debutant artist.

Re-releases need to be judged on content. For example, Katy Perrys Teenage dream had only 3 new song, one of which had just been realesed as a single, another had been leaked on the Internet almost a year before and the other (wide awake) IMO wasn't very good. Now that's a shit rerelease

This however this is worth every penny. 8 new tracks is almost like a whole other album and for people like me, who wasn't interested enough in the beginning, can get it now

I hope we get a new video soon! Lana always brings out the most creative videos. It would be great to see how she will handle the 'Paradise' theme

I think the next 'video' from Lana could be the unveiling of her cover of 'Blue Velvet' she has recorded for the H&M ad campaign. Goes up on H&M's site on 19/9/12. Lord only knows what has happened to the Dark Paradise video?

Sorry i hate re-releases a total rip off this could easily be an EP for those with born to die as well as a deluxe for those without it find it cheapening and disrespectful.

I want to like Del Rey more than I do. I think I find it difficult to get past her quaint, self-conscious, faux-retro lyrics, which is a shame as her voice is alluring. I just never believe she believes the things she sings about, which sounds trivial but for a souful singer is in fact of critical importance.

I don't blame US critics for not buying into her. The country as a whole is much less open to overnight sensations than the UK is; hype doesn't mean as much over there.

Surely the job of a music critic is to judge the album on the music contained within? In most cases, the US critics spent the vast majority of the review concentrating on everything BUT the album. That's what wazzed me off about the whole thing. The criticism wasn't in any way constructive, it was vindictive and nasty. The funny/embarrassing thing (for them) is many of those critics loved her when they thought she was an indie artist who came out of nowhere with Video Games. A critic scorned is a nasty creation.

I like her very much, but I bought her album already and I would actually appreciate it more if there would be an option to buy the new tracks, simply as an EP rather than having to buy them all separately now or the whole new album.

Whoever came up with the idea of repackaged editions... one word... Karma!

Semierotic, I don't mean this to sound offensive, but frankly I don't think you've got a clue what she's like at all from that remark.

"quaint, self-conscious, faux-retro lyrics" is that all you think she does? Case or point some of Lana's darker songs are nothing but total bleakness or total badass stuff -it er really isn't all "quaint" at all. Oh and donít say it too loud but she actually does happy dancey songs occasionally too which botches the theory she only does misery. I think like a lot of people you've only heard a few tracks and haven't realised the full extent of what she has done. Great variety of B2D itself, but even more if you dip your toes into her HUGE amount of unreleased demo's and old material under previous stage names floating about on the web.

Lana is heavily into hip hop and classic poetry by all accounts. Fans know she's a big fan of classic American poet Walt Whitman-she's actually got his name tattooed on her arm. What I would say she has taken from that is her lyrics have a very intelligent poetic quality to them. All her songs tell stories and within those stories she often makes bigger points about how America is as a country.

Some people might say I read too much into her lyrics, but I seriously believe she is a very, very clever lyrist, up there with the best. Even her dumber songs are intelligently stupid, if you see what I mean. And yes I think she totally means everything she sings.

As for the US critics they need to get over their stupid prejudiced opinions. I think they thought they did something really clever what they found out she was a rich girl. Then off the back of that they made up all this nonsense that she was really some Paris Hilton character who'd got her rich daddy to fund her music career and write songs for her. Internet Trolls have roasted her for this ever since.

She's proven herself time and time again now as an artist and a song writer who does this off her own skills and merit, her back catalogue speaks for itself. They need to change the record, its got old now. Put it this way: I'm a super cynical Indie Boy, I bleed Indie dammit, and she's won me over time and time again. I don't expect everybody to like her, but I can never believe it when so called "music critics," people who should be shouting from the roof tops about good music, refuse to admit thereís any merit to what she does.

You know I've been trying to wean myself off the drug they call Lana Del Rey recently. I think I've O.D.'d on her all year, people are probably sick of my essay length posts on these boards about her. I'm thinking this is getting a bit crazy.

But god darn, I think I like being her kind of crazy, and she's just so worth shouting about! All she has to do is leak some songs, I'm reduced to a pile of music fan goo and I can't help myself. A lot of her fans say the same thing: "She's made music good again." Meaning she's saved us from all the crap that dominates the charts. She's different, she's special, I have nothing but respect for her.

Back to B2D Paradise edition: If the track listing is correct that's interesting. It does still mean BIG time quality unreleased songs that have become fan faves (like On Our Way), still remain unreleased. Possibly been saved for the next album along with new tracks? Hope so.

.
Being into poetry does not make one a good poet.

Likewise, singing about dark themes does not make one's style less quaint.

You're taken by her lyrics, I'm not. It's really that simple. I appreciate she's going for an impressionist, fractured take on society and love at large, but it doesn't work for me. She chucks dozens of themes at the wall and sees what sticks.
