im thinking of getting one, just because everyone keeps banging on about it.
i need a tablet and 200 is my budget.
i was looking at the samsung galaxy tab, but i never hear anything about that one either way.

where as the nexus seems to be on the front of every technology magazine, adverts all over the net and alot of talk on this forum
does that all suggest to me that i should just go out and get it ?

whats the deal with flash player? will this cause problems not having it.

I look at at the samsung galaxy tab and other cheaper tablets but was told by a few on here to get the Nexus 7.
The Nexus 7 fast. Better wi-fi in weak signal areas than my HTC Desire S.
Can be held in one hand if need be.
Screen is very clear and battery dont seem to go down as quick as it dose on my Desire S.
Sound from it also seems fine.
In the just over 3 weeks I have had the Nexus 7. I have used it more than my laptop. I do still use my desktop pc 95% of the time.

Basically the Nexus 7 has very good specs for the price. You still can install Flash if you want. However it will become less important as apps are updated and mobile versions of websites will require it less and less.

There's a really big thread here about it. People are impressed that you get a quad core device that runs games and apps fast and smooth. It's great value as Google are almost selling it at cost. It is their premier device so it will receive plenty of support and updates for the near future anyway.

its not perfect, and the Tab has the advantage of an SD card slot. That seems to be about it though, and its not something I've missed on my Nexus 7.

What is so great about the ASUS Nexus? - nothing. it is just currently the best at the price point.

Well it does have raw android and direct support from Google for software updates.....

may i ask how one would be able to install flash onto the nexus?

Be sure to tick the Settings>Security>Unknown sources option. Then have a look at this thread.

It's just excellent, miles better than a relatives iPad I've used.

It's a fantastic tablet. As someone who owns an iPad and has access on a regular basis to the Nexus 7 (and has a Galaxy S3 so is in no way bias towards Android or iOS), I believe its the Android tablet that has caught up with Apple in terms of software and hardware. It's a super-smooth experience, a brilliant price point and if you don't mind the smaller screen, its a perfect tablet for everyday use.

In what ways?

I have been very happy with the Nexus 7 in the nearly 4 weeks I have had it. Saves battery on my HTC when im in the house as the Nexus 7 is far better than my HTC Desire S for wi-fi and battery. Also seems faster than my HTC Desire S.
If they ever bring out a smaller mobile phone verson of the Nexus 7 I would be tempted to get it on pay and go.
I know Samsug did have a Nexus but I dont see that listed on the 02 website anymore and im not sure if that would have been as good as the Nexus 7.

Software wise the galaxy Nexus IS a smaller version of the Nexus 7 and it should still be available. Its a great phone !

If you can hold on a month or so there should be more info as to whether there is going to be a Nexus phone released this year.

Yes I can hold on a month or so. Im in no hurry to get a new phone till early next year. I just have not been a full 100% happy with the HTC Desire S in the just over 11 months I have had it. Manly due to signal drop outs in weak signal areas.

Well there are various rumours about whether there will or wont be a new Nexus. latest whisper was that they were just going to upgrade the innards of the existing Nexus.... smells a bit iPhone 4S to me.

Documents have leaked from leading Japanese network NTT DoCoMo that Google is lining up three new Nexus smartphones to launch before the end of the year. (one from Samsung, one from Sony, one from LG)

well i did read the article stating that Sony are going to release a stock Android firmware for their Xperia S as a 'trial' which kind of makes it a Nexus (although not a new one). Its a good trend if you ask me.

after having got used to the Nexus 7, I'll be very reluctant to get a phone that's not vanilla Android in future.... it doesn't need extra bells and whistles.

I thought user's liked the fact Android is fragmented with many different versions?

I love the solid uniformed feel of iOS and consistency across all Apple devices. I see this as the start of a unified Android aswell as the tightening up of the Playstore and increased security.

If Android is going to be taken seriously by the more profitable business sector and not so much by the £49.99 budget Android market then it needs to take this route. So it will many more "Nexus" devices made by different manufacturers. Ultimately Android will become a 2 tier OS. Nexus devices running latest software and normal Android devices running various versions of Android.

The Nexus-7 is a fantastic Android tablet, In fact its the best Android tablet I've used by a long way. But it still doesn't have the fluid feel of iPAD- But its definitely a step n the right direction and will give Apple a much needed kick in the ass.

The different size phones and different manufacturers and specs and prices, good. The lagging behind of updates, bad.


Showing your apple colours there Android is very popular all over, and has the same built in security and system admin features as iphones, plus for any of the 2million+ companies running Google Apps it all ties in together very neatly. Its not all about cheap handsets as you probably know. The top-end Samsung and HTC handsets overtook iphones in functionality a long time ago.
