EE - Missed an Awesome ending for Ben?
When Ben was sitting in the dark cage! they could have used that time to have had voice flashbacks, like Peggy!
Something from a past episode! Ian: This is Ben, his coming to live with us now! Phil: I love you Ben, your my son Ben: You need slapping down! Hev: Peggy: Jay: Shirley etc etc Kathy |

Nah. Hate stuff like that.
I think the final, solemn shot of him sitting in the dark police van was much more subtle and poignant. |

Oh, absolutely. When the doors and that were being shut, and it just sank in to silence, you sort of got the feeling that's all he ever wanted: for everyone to stop shouting and just leave him alone.

I think that would have been too 'Hollyoaks'. The last scene was powerful enough. It didn't need anything else added to it.

I was pleasantly surprised by the dignified and symbolic/visual ending to a rather chaotic storyline. The silence and darkness closing in on Ben carried more meaning and emotion than words or music could ever express: pride, relief, anxiety and most importantly, a chance to develop a sense of self far away from the Mitchell family.

I have to say, Joshua's acting was very good last night, and I almost felt sorry that he was going.

I thought it would have been nice if, while standing alone in the prison van, he'd taken out of his pocket a small, crumpled pic of Kathy - Would have brought everything full circle, given it was her death that started his life going down the tubes.
But it was a decent ending. Low-key endings can be much darker and more realistc than the OTT, melodramatic endings that you usually get in Soaps. |
