Loved it!
Spoiler

On a side note, is there any word on the start date yet?
It definitely isn't the 25th.

I read in a review by someone who saw it at the BFI that it's on the 26th August.

I think it is likely to be the 1st September, given that Merlin is then given a perfect 12 week slot to air 13 episodes (don't they usually air the first two-parter over one weekend?) before Christmas?

Also, if it IS September 1st, then that means that all five episodes of Doctor Who will fit into September, as there's five Saturdays!

IIRC last year the first episode of Merlin aired the same day as the DW finale.

If they do that again Merlin will have 13 weeks before Christmas without having to show 2 episodes on one day.

I'd say at this rate, Sept 1st is a good bet on it.

Can't see it being later than that now.

It's 1/9/12 - which is two weeks today, and is on each Saturday for five weeks. The only thing we don't know right now is what time each episode will air. It's usually around 7:00pm, though it's been known to shift up and down slightly depending on what other programming is going on each week,

It should remain on IPlayer for about a week, so you should have a chance to catch it.

Doctor Who has always had it's regular episodes broadcast on a Saturday. The 26th August is a Sunday. The 25th was briefly passed around as a potential start date, because of a story on this site that claimed Matt Smith had said the new series would start in August. That date was always subject to change, if only because it was something worked out by fans which was never confirmed by the BBC.

The 1st September has been announced. Whether you can call a short mention made at the BFI screening an 'official' announcement or not, it's certainly credible seeing as we are now so close to that date. Once the BBC is confident that nothing will come along at the last minute to take up the slot, the date will probably be put up on the BBC Doctor Who site.

It would be better to have someone you least expect as the figure.

It's definitely a Dalek mutant. Since the series returned in 2005 there have been very few named Daleks, and of those - how many are better known 'as' a mutant?

Interestingly, Dalek Caan was the insane Dalek from Doomsday (who better to start an asylum for damaged Daleks?), and looking at his picture on the TARDIS Index file, it's clearly him:

love the idea that dalek caan is there...maybe davros set up the asylum for all the badass, really messed up daleks and he was the first....following that any dalek that met the doctor and failed got sent to the asylum.

also imagine if the asylum was on gallifrey! (it isn't but just think!)

Maybe you should have written this episode? I love that idea.

Whilst I can't say for definite it's not Dalek Caan, he was still housed in the remains of his casing. The Dalek you can see in the background isn't. We've already seen that inside the casings, the mutants look alike, so there's no 'definitely Dalek Caan' in that trailer. It could be any Dalek.

Yes but it's the day before Bank Holiday Monday which is near enough a Sunday in law anyway ........ I'm not saying that's correct but I wouldn't dismiss it without looking into it myself

There are currently a couple of TBA slots around Doctor Who time on Saturday 1st September, so it's looking very likely that we'll be faced with some Daleks in just under two weeks time
