There are plenty of threads about TPB, plus Google has suggestions too.

The long and short of it is; you have to find an address that works, as TBP has been blocked by most/all UK ISPs.

I noticed that the other day.

I was looking for some info about WinFLP before installing it on my ancient laptop and I noticed that a bunch of the google results were redacted with a "This result has been blocked after a claim by [somebody or other] that it breaches copyright" or summat.

This post must be a wind-up, as the consensus of most people in this forum is that the ban of The Pirate Bay has had no effect whatsoever.

You think that just because one person complains that they can't find the site weeks after the ban was enforced justifies a ""?

I'm still waiting for the announcement that revenue from DVD/Game/CD sales has suddenly risen sharply.

I think an announcement that streaming services such as Netflix, LoveFilm and Sky Go have increased in popularity is more likely.

But that is unlikely to be as a result of TPB being blocked, given such services have been increasing in popularity quite sharply for many months.

Netflix traffic in the US overtook bittorrent in the US last year, despite the Pirate Bay not being blocked there. That trend will continue I have no doubt and be mirrored here in the UK, and it will have little if anything to do with the blocking of Pirate Bay. Most people I know who use torrents moved on from Pirate Bay moons ago.

However, more congestion on the public interchanges means sites like Blinkbox buffering like crazy when you try to watch something on a Smart TV. There'll need to be more CDN edge servers in ISP datacentres and direct peering...

Or some clients will need to be more efficient... less bandwidth on DRM, saving it for adaptive H264...

Agreed, it's one of the problems with streaming services vs downloading. For large areas of the UK we still really don't have the infrastructure to support super smooth streaming playback in many areas and it'll get worse as more and more people get on board. For a great many people, myself included, smooth streaming of HD is just not possible and probably wont be for many years.

Things might get better as technology improves. The new H.265 video standard promises the same quality for half the bandwidth of H.264, however that's likely to be a couple of years away at best.
