Scripted drama

Is it insulting to the audience to be so transparent? Or is this overestimating the discernment of the average viewer.

All the "caught on the fly" backstage discussion between contestants is so set up and obvious they knew they were being filmed and told what to say - they trying to be like TOWIE

That's only for backstory, they ask their parents or whoever to ask them "so how do you feel about your life at the moment?"
I think the judges tend to be honest, but this mean-ness from Mel B is very carefully edited. She's probably very nice in some auditions.

Yeah, you get the feeling Mr Cowell has decided to copy it ever so slightly across the board

They know that the more drama they churn out, the more publicity they'll get and more people will tune in to watch.

Well, not me. I got fed up last year so this year I decided to judge on the auditions whether or not to watch this year. I won't be tuning in again until judges houses, I'll see if things are any better then.

I dread to think.

I hope the girl that kicked off physically wasn't some set up, wouldn't put it past them and she did act like the producers had told her to sing pink ... but i did notice the almost complete lack of security anywhere near her after she punched the cameraman. Everyone knows from past series how quick security usually jump on anyone getting a bit lary.

I can't say I watched tonight's show but 2009 was the last with me .... that was a complete set up to me simons "hate jedward/slag off weekly" then backs off and the cheryl "I can't do it .... take it to deadlock" was enough for me .... but all you have to do is briefly watch it and you see it is!

Feel partly sorry for the "pink" look alike if she was setup ... wow .... but odd you mention lack of "security" ... last time I watched auditions it was "secure" .... odd to me .... oh well hopefully be off soon if not this year NEXT ... also with his other show "red or black" or as I nickname it "black and blue"

I know I'll get the "Well then why comment when you don't like the show" comments but this show really is quite pathetic!

You can quite clearly tell that the whole focus is not on the talent but the personalities and storylines they want to include!

The Voice may have been a total flop but it was a lot more truthful than this crap!
