Who makes the best android smart phones?
Whats you opinions? I've owned a few HTC phones, Desire, Desire S, Incredible S, and each and every one has had issues, whether it be crappy battery or death grips, not to mention the locked bootloaders, but on the plus side I think HTC make the best looking android phones. I can only judge SE on my wifes Xperia, Its an awful phone to use, slow and sluggish and crap battery life. I own a SGS2 and really can't find fault with it, OK battery life might not be great but I bought an extended 2000nAh battery and its fantastic, 2 days use with moderate use.

Samsung.
That's not an opinion, that's an objective statement - they have had the edge on other manufacturers for around 18 months now and that's reflected in their huge increase in sales and market-share and the fact that they're the only company other than Apple making a profit selling phones. A large part of their advantage is that they produce the vast majority of components that go into their handsets themselves - they're one of a tiny number of companies that are able to produce AMOLED displays; they produce their own SoCs (System on Chips - ie CPU and GPU) unlike HTC, LG, Sony etc - not to mention they've produced the last few iterations of Apple's SoCs as well; they're huge when it comes to flash memory. About the only thing I can think of off the top of my head that they're buying in are the camera modules, the Galaxy S3 uses a Sony-manufactured sensor that is also used in the iPhone 4S and the Xperia Arc/Arc S/Neo etc. Rather embarrassingly for Sony though, both Apple and Samsung have put the sensors to better use - the firmware in the Xperia handsets over-compresses the images meaning the quality Sony (Ericsson) handsets produce doesn't match up to that of other handsets using Sony's sensor. However, getting back to the original question, Samsung do seem to be at risk of becoming quite complacent, just as HTC did when they misjudged the market moving to dual-core handsets. Qualcomm are producing fantastic new SoCs that Samsung don't seem to have an answer to yet and, whilst Samsung could and already do buy some SoCs from Qualcomm, it would potentially remove one of the advantages that Samsung have held over other Android OEMs. |

General opinion seems to be Samsung, but I don't follow the herd. Everyone I know that has an HTC is very happy.

What put me off HTC was the locked bootloaders etc, Samsung are more user friendly shall we say and with a JIG no one need ever know what you've been at.

Samsung. The Galaxy Nexus is a stunning phone, and their Galaxy S3 is at the cutting edge at the moment. I guess I can see why Apple have directed most of their 'lawsuits' at them now...

I've personally never had a problem with HTC , felt much more solid and businesslike than Samsung and they're pretty solid . Though the camera's aren't much to shout out about ,even my HTC one x doesn't come close to my old Sony erricson Satio .

Which ever make you buy makes the best one or you would not have bought it.
I have a Sony Xperia S and i think it is much nicer to look at, to hold and to use than the Galaxy S III. Which is the better phone? Well on specs alone the GS III is but which did i buy after playing with them? |

First of all, Sony Ericsson doesn't exist anymore, it's just Sony now. Second, there's no such thing as an Xperia, Xperia is a series of phones, not a phone. Third, the general public will tell you Samsung, but if you have any sense, you'd already know that the general public are idiots. I'd go with Sony, or one of the lesser known phone makers, like ZTE. I'm currently looking for a new phone and have atm narrowed it down to the Sony Xperia S or wait for the Xiaomi Mi-2 |

The coice factor may be a good thing, although different manufacturers have different ways of doing android, and often heavily customise it, both in looks and performance with variations such as HTC sense, Samsungs touch wizz, motoblur form motorola and so on.
A high spec phone regardless of make/OS is a major purchase and if you can you should spend as much time as possible trying out the different variations out there, what may be the best thing since sliced bread to one person, may be awkward slow and clunky to another. |
