She is underrated in the UK , she deserves more.

And I'm almost sure Taylor Swift can't fill a stadium in Europe , so I think Amy has a bigger fanbase if we keep the US aside.

Worldwide Taylor is bigger because she has US , Australia and Asia.

But I think Amy is bigger in Europe.

Imogen Heap definitely deserves to be more recognised she has a small US following but barely known and recognised here.

Laura Marling!!! An astounding song writer - I think she is a lyrical genius!

And other honourable mentions to KT Tunstall and Amy MacDonald. Why oh why Amy didn't perform a little something at the Olympics!

Well you can fairly appreciate that she is being successful in her own right despite the low opinion of her then good on you - I'm not a fan of her or dislike her btw, I'm just going by the facts & the general opinion she seems to get for her work until now.
I think lots of people in this thread are letting their own preferences do the talking as for who is underrated and who's not, misusing the meaning of the word as they think the fact the whole nation has fallen for their favorite artist means s/he doesn't get the recognition s/he deserves...Amy McDonald is the perfect example. (commercial) Success and rate can go in pair together but most of the time go separately. In Amy McDonald's case, I wouldn't say she underrated. She's critically acclaimed but doesn't get the attention that a Lily Allen gets for instance and when it comes to her song's impact to the casual public it is almost non-existent as she gets little to zero airplay from stations like Radio 1 or Capital. Her public profile is then rather quiet and so I would say, like Laura Marling, Rumer and to a certain extent Lianne La Havas that she's underhyped.

She has not yet but most likely to happen on tayors next tour, amy is bigger then taylor albums sales in europe but doubt she could see out venues to the extent taylor has in Europe. But that aside, both taylor and Amy are two of the most talented females around, love them both, just wish Amy got the exposure she fully deserves.

I'm not so sure about that. Amy last tour sold out every arena she did in Europe. There were arenas for 15,000-20,000 people. 7 sold out arenas in Germany for example.

Thats to be expected, amy is far bigger then taylor album sales in the UK, taylor is a country artist and the UK dont take to them.
But as taylor appears to maybe have sold out her sound on her new album would think this is gonna change big time in October.

Re your other post.... Did not know amy had sold out all the big arenas in the UK and europe.

However you look at it taylor is superstar status and amy is not and thats my point as amy deserves a lot more stardom then she has, but of course if amy did have this sort of stardom them it may change her as an artist and I would not like that.

So do I. I adore her music. Her songwriting is incredible.

Only on this forum could you see people complaining that an utterly average singer-songwriter is underrated in the UK despite selling over a million albums.

Actually i think your underestimating Amy's European success she is massive over there truly loved and sells in excessive amounts especially Germany (which has taken over us as the thrived biggest music market) so in terms of NA and Australasia Taylor owns it over here in Europe i think Amy has the edge plus a resurgence in her native UK but in say9ng that with the more pop oriented route TS seems to be taking its all up for grabs unless Carly Rae Jepson steals the crown.

I'd agree with Siobhan Donaghy her solo material especially her album Ghosts is just incredible and criminally underrated.
