What was that coffee date scene all about?
![]() The show transformed into TOWIE. I loved how they added transitions and gave the show extra polish, but I hope they scrap these little scripted moments - they are proper cringe inducing. Funny, but really cheap. |

I came on purely to point out this same toe-curlingly awful addition - it was so clearly scripted and just seemed like a totally redundant addition - not a single person seems to have found it anything other than dire pointless TOWIE-esque nonsense.

The blonde girl asking the guy who sang Candyman "do you have a girlfriend?" was clearly scripted to hide the fact he is gay

I found it so cringeworthy, especially when she asked if he's ever had a girlfriend.

It said in The Sun today he is gay which makes the scene so so awkward. Also adds to the list of contestants the production team seem to think need to be portrayed as straight for no reason :/

I actually don't think the "have you ever had a girlfriend?" question was to divert from the fact he was gay. I think his reaction was intended to put a finer point on the fact that he is.

a quote from a song about the x factor , "We need the ladies to vote for you so hide your sexuality"
Pretty much sums up why they do half of this stuff, in my opinion anyway. X Factor always thinks that if you're gay you won't get more votes which is why they have to hide their sexuality unfortunately

I posted this in another thread (to no response, haha) but, yeah.
It would actually be nice to have an openly gay sympathetic character on the show. I mean Marcus from last year, yeah they admitted he was a hairdresser, but he was always singing songs about the girls or to his mum -_- Otherwise we've had 'Danyl, youre so arrogant' Danyl, and fiendishly camp Diva Fever and Johnny Robinson. Or makeup-plastered Adam Lambert. Gay people can be normal too - and get votes! Its not like its something to be embarrassed about, producers. It is 2012 after all, not the 1950s. |

Look what they tried with Rhydian. He was straight though but they tried to Diva him up because he sang opera. |

The whole thing was embarrassingly lame - all those little scenes are. X factor was so much better when it was just about people getting up on stage & auditioning. We hardley see any of the acts now because there's so much pointless padding in the show. Can't really be bothered watching it till the finals now - if I read about anyone outstanding/ controversial on there I'll catch their audition on youtube.

I think it was to add a SuBo the audience didn't expect him to be that good moment.

That was sooo embarrassing and totally unnecessary. You're right, it did seem like a scene from TOWIE.

I just found awkward. It adds nothing necessary to the show.
