Singer of one of "the" songs of the 60's.

Heard via facebook earlier as posted by Barry McGuire

"‎1.00 a.m. Sunday, 19th August, 2012. When I got home last night, Mari told me that my friend, Scott McKenzie had slipped out of his body and joined so many others who'd left the planet before him. So many stories I could tell, so many memories, so much love. I'll miss you terribly Scotty and I'm looking forward to that first playground on the other side of Zion's Gate where we'll meet again."

Fantastic, iconic song of the time, for people not familiar with his name, you'll surely know his song "If you're going to San Francisco, released at the height of flower power.

Best known for the gentle song:

If you're going to San Francisco (Be should to wear some flowers in your hair.)

His John Philips written song completely epitomises the flower power era.
