SOPHIE STRIPS FOR VICTORY

Jungle teaser Sophie Anderton has stepped up flashing the flesh in I'm A Celeb in a saucy bid to win votes - and beat Jordan's record as the show's top model.

The 27-year-old beauty, under fire for being lazy in the camp, says she plans to win the vote and come out on top as I'm A Celeb's top model.

Jordan, 26, real name Jatie Price, made it through to the final five in the last series of the hit ITV show earlier this year. Now Sophie is in the final six and aims to beat her rival's jungle record. As part of her bid to woo male viewers, Sophie yesterday cut up her red shots to create a tiny mini-skirt. She also flashed her flesh in her bikini as she took a dip in the camp.

She said "I'm sure no other model apart from me and Jordan has got this far in the competition. I'll love to hang on longer. I think the viewers are keeping me in as eye candy . But hope they are seeing my personality. Previous jungle babes Alex Best, Nell McAndrew and Catalina Guirado have all done well, but none has ever being crowned Queen of the Jungle. Janet Street-Porter, 57, told Sophie, "you could be a record breaker!" And she added "I think you are still here because you are the new Natalie." Stunned Sophie said "I don't think I'm as nuerotic as her!"

But she is finding it hard to hack jungle life. Earlier in the week, she was on the verge of quitting and yesterday, she again showed signs that she may throw in the towel. Hoping fans would not vote for her to stay, Sophie said: "I'm going to hide under my sheet and see if that works." But Janet told her "It's not going to work, because they are going to keep voting you in."

Janet later griped to the others about Sophie "I haven't had the luxury of lying on my bed claiming I feel "tired" all day."

From today's Daily Star.

Will it work? And why this obsession to beat Jordan's dubious "record"?

I hope you didn't cut n paste that article (spelling typos) ... its does not actually state in that article (in quotation marks) that Sohpie mentioned Jordan .... its the paper trying to cause strife ..

Yet more tabloid hashed news

Makes me feel good that I never buy tabloids .... (or any other paper on a regular basis)

I don't think the "paper (is) trying to cause a strife" as I heard her talk about it in the Bush Telegraph, and in conversation if my memory holds up.

I know there isn't another side to these quotation marks but I think there should be, and therefore she did mention Jordan.

Maybe I am wrong. I don't buy or read tabloids either there are enough lies in the world without doing that but if they started with quotation marks there was probably a quote there somewhere.

The Mirror asks today; and answers:

No, there's just a desperate show-off in it.

They mean Sophie. More samples:

pouting, petulant...thinks we just can't get enough of her ... despite claiming ... tantrum ... clearly enjoying the attention ... has stepped effortlessly into [Natalie's] shoes - whining about the heat, the conditions and missing her boyfriend ... constantly playing up to the cameras ... tried - unsuccessfully - to get access to TV footage before it was screened. An insider said: "She wanted her agent to vet all pre-recorded clips. It was ridiculous." ...

The way I see it with Sophie, is she is stunned to have stayed in so long, and now thinks she may stand a chance of winning, as all the remaining contestants do now, you can see it in their eyes. Why shouldn't she think she may stand a chance. I don't personally want Sophie to win, but on the other hand wouldn't be that bothered if she did.

They have all said stuff in that Jungle that has been picked up on, not just Sophie, the papers, especially the cheap rags just hit out at the ones they haven't taken to. I can't really see them hitting out at the likes of Joe or Janet, so they take pot shots at the other three, mostly Sophie.

"She also flashed her flesh in her bikini as she took a dip in the camp" quote

Is one supposed to bathe in full jungle clobber? Or stay dirty.

It's always right to be suspicious of the tabloids and their "insider" quotes.

But why are so many always giving Sophie the benefit of the doubt, especially when they don't do the same for some of the others?

I don't dislike Soph, but I don't "get" why people like her so much either. Isn't she just the sort of person who would normally annoy? Going around in a bikini all the time, wanting attention, etc. She hasn't been very entertaining. She doesn't stand out as expecially helpful or hardworking (though she was one of the hardest working near the start when she was less popular).

What has she managed to get so right? I am genuinely wondering about this and would appreciate any suggestions.

I agree that she's not necessarily a person who you'd want to spend a lot of time with. But, from my point of view, its that she's taken a lot of undeserved flak from some far more unpleasant characters.

Its not a question of automatically supporting the victim - but in a situation where there's no real "hero", who better to support than the one whose success will piss off the "villains"?

According to the Sun, Sophie claimed viewers are voting to keep her in the jungle — “because I’m the eye candy” and said The self-obsessed ex-drug addict spends most of her time swanning around camp in a bikini..

I like her because she shows dignity and maturity in the face of intense (imo) bullying. That isn't easy for anybody to do, much less someone with her past history.

And she prattles on a lot? So has every other celebrity on reality tv! And I'd rather hear her chatter about herself than the pity party of Les Dennis on CBB2, for example!

I also find her quite entertaining. She's not a born comedian, or a razor sharp wit, but I do find her funny nevertheless. Like the "I sold however many bras" comment, and the looks she was giving Natalie throughout the bush tucker trial. I also find her likeable, a rare commodity on reality tv.

Bearing in mind that I don't find Janet as intelligent as she's meant to be, I don't find Joe as funny as he's meant to be, and I don't think Fran is as attractive as some people do - I don't think Soph is a bad option at all, really! In a pretty average cast, she has stood out for me as one of the more interesting personalities.

Janet Street-Porter is 57 and I don't recall seeing her wearing a bikini at anytime in the jungle.

I don't recall our Sophie, 27, in anything else except a bikini.

Happenstance? Ruminate on the unlikely possibility.

She wears less than the others. I'm not saying there's anything wriong with it, but it's the sort of thing that's often held against someone.

It's show-off, attention-seeking, vote-seeking behaviour. Supposedly.

It's not a mere claim, it is a fact. I heard her say this. She knows the score.

What about Sheila's terrifying leather bikini, though?! Contrast her with Natalie, who usually was well wrapped up!

She was probably told by the producers that the public would expect to see her in bikinis etc. This is a popularity contest and she has to 'perform'

They are history, for the purposes of this discussion. We are discussing poor, picked-upon Sophie and her 24/7 bikini modelling contract with the cockroaches and flies and mosquitos of the jungle.

After all, she claimed to have sold a million bras. Wonder if she is now aiming for 2 million?
