My wife and I saw the trailer last night and came to exactly the same conclusion.

From the trailer it looks dire and I doubt we will bother to watch.
Same here. The trailer did look to be compiled from the toe curling worse bits!

They showed in on BBC Breakfast the other morning, had the guy on, didn't look up to much to me either from the clips they showed.

Is that Gita from Eastenders?...
Yeah it is, i knew id seen her somewhere before.

I've been looking forward to this. The Mr Khan, pillar of the community, featured in Bellamy's People was a great character.

Unfortunately, the more I see of the trailers the more I fear that they've decided to ruin it by concentrating on his family life. Strong wife. Contemptuous daughters.

We've seen it all before.

Ah well. I'll give it a go.

Safe to say on the evidence of three minutes, this will not be renewed. Turned it off.

Oh dear, that is all I can stay. The father reminds me of the father in East is East in the way he talks. Also turned off

I thought this couldn't get any worse, and then the BT cretin appeared. It's truly horrific, I don't think my toes will ever be straight again.

In the same way The Black and White Minstrels were evidence of the rastafarisation of Britain...

The audience who are laughing after every line must have been warmed up well, that's all I'm saying.

Whisky Tango Foxtrot?

They're reheating all the tropes that GGM subverted...
Is it an ethnic reversal of Till Death Us Do Part or summat?

It's like white actors doing a REALLY bad stereotype of what they think British/Muslim/Pakistani family life is like. All that overacting...they've all been to the 'Dev from Corrie School of Acting'.

It really is like a 70s sitcom: unfunny and relies too much on lazy characterizations.

It's funny in parts. Parking the Merc on the pavement, you can't be a Muslim as you're ginger, parking in a disabled bay and faking a limp and all that.

The accents are awful though.

Is it me or is Amjad being played by a white guy faking a mad fusion of Pakistan and Brummie accents ?

The dad is played by the author Adil Ray, who is a broadcaster on the BBC radio Asian Network.

Edit: sorry, you meant the young man. Yes, it seems so...

If you took away the over the top accents/asian stereotypes, you'd be left with a paper thin plot with very weak comedy. It really is quite poor.

When he keeps "hawking" I wonder if the writers have been watching Ain't Half Hot Mum as Rangi always used to do that too.

God, so much negativity. Each to their own I suppose.

I quite like it. It has had some funny lines.

I'm in two minds. There have been some very funny moments, but some of it is awkward. Plus, there would be more Brummie in their accents really.

Nice to see Geeta from Eastenders return, though.

Pity it's rubbish, the acting itself is good but the accents over the top and audience laughter every second spoiling it...
