Caught the repeat of the first episode of the new series on Monday night and i thought it was dreadful. I really did. I couldn't believe the decline in quality from the first series.

I watched every episode of series 1 and loved it, i found it hilarious. This episode however was far too over-the-top and didn't make me laugh one bit. I know it's supposed to be over-the-top but the storyline was ridiculous, the situation was stupid and the writing was awful. The only thing that raised a titter for me was Khan goading the aunt with the biscuits. Other than that i failed to raise a smile.

And where was Kris Marshall? He's one of the best things about the show. Probably another reason why the episode was so bad. They need to get him back as his scenes with Khan make the show.

I really hope the quality improves from Ep2 onwards otherwise i can't see this getting another series.

I was made to watch this last week with my 15 year old nephew, who assured me it was absolutely hilarious.

He was in hysterics, I was struck dumb with the horror.

Mind you, he loves Miranda as well, and she makes me want to poke my eyes and ears out.

As has been said earlier in the thread he has been replaced as Dave by Matthew Cottle from Game On.

The presumption is that he quit because he was too busy filming Death In Paradise out in the Caribbean (he's replaced Ben Miller in Season 3)

Oh, thanks for that. I didn't realise he had left the show.

I'm sure Charlie Stayt said on Breakfast this morning, that the series is set in the 70's! Bit of a howler.

If by Kris Marshall you mean Dave then I agree 100% with your post

He did, he also thought it started this week.

I assume these kind of programmes are talked about in the playground these days?

Why are Muslim extremists such as the Taliban so cruel.. shooting a schoolgirl! what horror.

If all Muslims were like Citizen Khan who wanted a good education for his daughter (fantasy world of TV), the 'real' world would be a more peaceful place.”

Oh come on that's just bull. The majority of Muslims are "like" Citizen Khan in that they want the best for their kids. Only a handful of crackpots are extremists.

Forget religion, I hate the inaccuracies of the show, the character of Citizen Khan is supposed to be this hardcore patriotic immigrant yet Adil Ray who plays him can't even speak Urdu properly, even mono syllabic Urdu words can't hide his British accent. The woman playing his wife speaks it better than him and better English also.

Anyone else notice the rather 'filmic' way it's presented?

Don't know why they've done that.

The bearded guy at the bingo session was a teacher in Grange Hill.
Just looked him up he was Mr Baxter the P.E teacher.

If the BBC can run this it can re-run It Aint Half Hot Mum.

This show is as funny as a long wait in a dentists waiting room.

I'd say the last bit was funny at least.

That's because TV producers these days are idiots.

No I don't think you are wrong. But the name at the end for the guy who played 'Dave' said "Matthew Cottle" but when I looked up Matthew Cottle ,it showed some guy who had been in East Enders ,and was born in 1967 ,so no way is it that guy. Like I said, they must have the wrong name.

The cast list says Michael Cronin, which was "Bullet" Baxter.

There was another actor called Michael who played Mr Bronson, Michael Sheard.
