WhyIsTVSoAwful

Oh, hey, I have no sense of humour when a different religion or skin colour's involved, so I just thought I'd stop by and vent my outrage at how disgusted I am at...well...I don't quite know what, but it involves Asian themes so just though I'd act outraged like everyone else.

Y'know, bandwagon and all that...

Lol. I'm Muslim and I'm not disgusted. I just think the sitcom is way over the top and so bad I just have to watch it despite knowing I'll not like it.

It was toe curlingly bad. The attempted rip off of the Morecambe and Wise kitchen routine was particularly cringeworthy. The programme is just not funny.

I thought the first series was quite good, they should probably leave it alone now. Second series wasn't that great, and the Christmas special wasn't very impressive.

You have to remember that Christmas specials often need to be viewed in the same alcohol and gluttony fuelled haze that created them. <Hic!>

I just don't get it. Is this show really that popular ?..I don't personally know a single person who watches it regularly.
I did watch a couple of early episodes and chuckled a few times, but I never believed for a minute that it would run to three series and a Christmas special !

it's not at all popular. Ratings are dire, the 8 Nov episode got a spectaculary low rating of 11%. It's a flop with critics and audience. The BBC keep it on life support as a 'diversity' box ticking exercise. 'Goodness Gracious Me' was a genuine hit but this is an unmitigated turkey.

So a popular show like The Fades gets cancelled yet this rubbish Citizen Khan continues to get made.

That's what I thought as well. Funny thing is, I don't believe it's very popular with the Asian community. We know several Asian families and they never watch it, they're big fans of Mrs Browns Boys in fact..you couldn't get much further removed from an Asian comedy than that.

Anyone know when the Xmas special was given the go ahead? I got the feeling it was done late and was rushed. That's what happened with most of the Only Fools and Horses Xmas episodes from 1993 onwards at the very least and that is why in my view, they were not that good.

If this one was done late too the its high time the BBC learnt to commission Xmas specials early so they do not end up as Xmas Turkeys! I'm afraid I did not find this one a good one either. I could see mid way how as usual Khan's self inflicted troubles were going to merge up and that as always, is pretty well thought of but because I sense it was done in a rushed way, it was on the whole off parr from being a good one.

I think it deserves another series though and I anticipate more self deprecating stuff which I wish the programme would back off from doing and go for a more general comedy approach.

I think it was was commissioned at the same time as series two. I don't know what order they recorded the episodes in, but they were done on Thursday evenings from June 6th to July 18th. The location stuff was done at the end of May.

If that is the case, then they should have done better than this. The acting, especially between the actresses playing the eledest daughter and the mother seemed to be quite amateurish to me in the kitchen scenes, as if they hadn't rehearsed much.

It has its moments, but is quite old fashioned and too slapstick at times.

The line about how Santa should be Pakistani was amusing.

I assume we are quoting from a Goodness Gracious me sketch. As Ramprakash wasn't all that successful a cricketer he was deemed to be English!

Of course the Xmas episode was done early. Felix Dexter was in the episode, so that should have given a hint that it's been done early.

I really enjoy it. It's certainly way better than the utter crap which is Mrs Browns Boys .

I will watch this but not expecting anything too good, surprised its still being recommissioned actually.

I only watched it in the first place because Nick (from My Family!) was in it, second series was quite poor.

If they have a different ginge playing a different Dave each series if the show goes on for long enough Damian Lewis might appear
