N.C.I.S. Thread - S9: Channel 5, 9pm, Wednesdays [No Spoilers]

Any other fans? I have only recently started to get into the show and I love it, I could watch it all day. As no-where seems to be showing the early seasons, I have started watching it on CBS Action and have seen the latter half of season 5 and most of season 6 now, but have not yet seen the earlier seasons. I am going to get the DVD's and watch it from the start, at least I will see it in widescreen and without ads as the show is also on 5 USA but in 4:3 even though it was available in widescreen

Im a fan of the show although I nearly gave up on it twice during my catch-up (which I'm still doing btw)

I watched a bit of season 1 on CBS Action before buying seasons 1-2 on DVD then watched seasons 3-4 on FX and then watched half of season 5 on Channel 5 before buying the DVDs of seasons 5-7 when C5 dropped it to show Big Brother last year.

Phew, Im now watching season 8 re-runs that I Sky+'ed off FX HD and am recording the weekly repeats of season 9 to watch after finishing S8

My favorite characters are Tony and Gibbs although watching the show marathon style (more than a few episodes a day) can get tiring as it basically is a different case of the week type affair.

That's one of the reasons why I love it, if you have a spare 45 mins you can watch an episode and by and large you don't have to have seen the preceding one to know what's going on. Only a few episodes are interconnected.

I record the CBS Action episodes and watch 2 a night. I used the weekend to get caught up on last weeks episodes so now I'm ready to either watch live tonight or a day or two behind (handy as I can fast forward the ads!)

I have to say I like all the characters on the show. They all have their own quirks and they all mesh together well. I bet the actors have a great time making the show too, their chemistry shines on the screen.

I accidentally came across an unhidden spoiler for the start of the 10th season that I wish I hadn't read and I'm hoping it's not true but hopefully by the time I get around to seeing Season 10 I'll have long forgot about it and can enjoy watching it when it comes around.

I'm also a fan but only started watching it about 8 months ago when I was vegging out in front of the TV last Christmas/New Year and caught a couple of episodes on FiveUS. I quite liked it and when I realised it was created by Donald P Bellisario (who co-created Magnum PI, my favourite show of all time) decided to watch a few more episodes. I've hardly seen any of them in order though - I watch it on Five and FiveUS (early seasons) and then occasionally see more recent episodes on CBS Action when I'm house-sitting for a friend who has Sky, so I'm thinking about getting the DVDs. The Magnum references are quite cute for a Magnum fan like me.

I adore Gibbs but can't stand DiNozzo because he's so childish. Abby's a great character and I love the father/daughter relationship between her and Gibbs. I really like Ziva too - that girl can seriously kick some ass!

I do like it but the 'case of the week' format does sometimes irritate me. This isn't a spoiler, but i'll spoiler it just in case ..

Spoiler

Unfortunately with 2 episodes a day, 10 episodes in a week is too much to keep on top of for someone watching for the first time

No other fans of this great show? America's most popular show going by ratings and viewer feedback and other statistics I have read about!

I dip into it. Not bad stories but the sets are terrible. It looks like they shot the headquarters in some random employment agency office.

this is my favourtie of the "c.s.i" family.

I like all the characters and get a laugh out of most episodes from the one liners or "ziva" getting the meanings wrong.

we have been watching on CBS and 5USA and been recording them but have now ordered the dvds from amazon so we can start from the begining.

oddly we saw a early episode the other day with "kate" in instead of "ziva" and it didnt seam to work as well (maybe me just being more used to ziva) . i wonder why "kate" left and the director seams to be the only changing charator.

CSI and NCIS have nothing to do with each other. NCIS is a spin-off of JAG from nearly a decade ago. NCIS has spawned NCIS Los Angeles, which in turn has links with Hawaii Five O.

I always thought the actress left to have a baby in real life, around the right age. Did no acting for a couple of years. Is now back on TV as one of the leads in Rizzoli and Isles, a US crime show which is shown here on Alibi.

Is a different style as was always played with Gibbs in a more father / daughter dynamic to Kate with Ducky the kindly older uncle. With Ziva playing a harder tougher character is different relationship dynamic between the characters.

I do like it, but it hasn't been the same since Sasha Alexander left.
One of the best exits ever IMO (beaten only by Dr Romano in ER), her last line was brilliant (even if she didn't get to finish it).

I didn't use to like Abby or Ducky when I first started watching the show but after a few seasons they've grown on me but I hate Jimmy Palmer I think it's because his character is so annoying wish they get rid of him

Love the show. Watched in since S1E1 and, as the OP said, could happily re-watch any ep anytime.

Me too, I started watching NCIS when I was really into CSI, I now much prefer NCIS because the cases on CSI have got a bit repetitive but I watch NCIS for the characters which are still brilliant.

Really? I thought they'd only just added him to the credits, or are are you being sarcastic? He's my least favourite character too, the soppy idiot phase has gone on too long now.

Been a fan since the very beginning - hence my forum name!

My all time favourite episode is Season 2, Episode 7, "Call of Silence"

It also happens to be the favourite of Mark Harmon, David McCallum and Pauley Perrette.

Try and catch it - you will need a hanky as well.

Just wondering if anyone here has seen the two part episode on JAG season 8 that introduced the characters and served as a backdoor pilot to the show.

Very sarcastic. Love Jimmy. Very happy he's a main character now.

Gotcha
I liked him in the dog episode when he took charge because he'd worked in a vet's; when all the other characters are so strong (even McGee now), he was a bit too weak for my liking (although he's exactly how I would be around Gibbs ). It will be interesting to see how he matures as a main character.

Incidentally, how cute was Jethro the dog!

No, although I'd really like to. I don't think JAG has ever been on a channel I can get, although I assume there are *cough* other ways of getting it.

Well being a main character on NCIS hasn't always meant security in the past so...

After Season 4 the cast did a "round table" where they answered questions from fans.

Part 1 here;
