If LS is going to be a business partner with the runner ups then what is the point of winning?

Take a look at my new business partner @susanma’s site http://bit.ly/TGTpGt @TropicSkinCare. Try a small order ladies, you won’t be sorry.”

It surely makes the entire process a waste of time?

I guess at the end of the day he's still a businessman at the core of it and if he sees an opportunity to make money, then he'll take it. Takes away from the purpose of the show, sure, but I imagine no one except the winner gets the big £250k investment and the press coverage, so it's still worth winning.

There is only one winner. Its perfectly possible that other offerings are worth taking up. Thats not the problem. The problem is the arguments used to get to the one winner and rule the others out. In Susan's case they claimed her figures didn't add up and that she would need an even bigger investment because of things like testing requirements. That was obviously nonsense that melted away afterwards - or he's become so convinced he is spending a lot more. If he's going to leave doors open for others, he can't use strong arguments to get to his winner - he has to say both proposals were very strong but he preferred the nail file on the evidence he then had. This year he did the opposite as it was clear that he wasn't ever going to go for the recipe website or the hedge fund but he portayed both as serious contenders to make it look as if he had a range of good choices.

It doesn't say anywhere that he can't get into business with the runner up though.

I don't think the problem was so much Susan's business plan as it was Susan herself. Even with the flaws that were pointed out, the interviewers made it pretty clear that they thought hers was the best plan of the four. The problem as I saw it was that rather than admitting that her initial plan was too ambitious and suggesting a more measured approach, she basically accused the interviewers of not knowing what they were talking about and insisted that her plan was still good. That probably convinced Sugar that while Susan would be a good investment someday, she needed more experience - which he now clearly thinks she has.
