Very popular movies that you don't like

I recorded Grease off the tv, i've been wanting to see it for years because it's such a cult movie and everyone loved it, but I didn't.
I found myself really bored and couldn't wait for it to end.

Also, Mamma Mia, it's the biggest load of twoddle! I expected to be blown away by this amazing movie that everyone loves, and it was just so dire. The story was rubbish, and the singing was oh so bad.

Chariots of Fire.

Took me years to get round to watching it. Something about it just did not appeal to me, and I am the sort of person who is not swayed by oscars, public opinion or critical plaudits if the subject matter of a film does not appeal to me.

I practically had to force myself to watch it, and I still can't see what all the fuss was about.

Well, I think it helps to go into Mamma Mia with very low expectations and also with the mindset that it's so bad it's entertaining. The singing was bad, the story was weak, but the film didn't take itself seriously and nor did the actors. Just looked like they were enjoying themselves and it sort of rubbed off on me. It was crap, but crap that I found oddly endearing. BTW, I don't care for Abba or musicals, so something was done right... or wrong.

Oh, yeah, Grease wasn't my cup of tea... and that's understating it. I hated it back in the seventies and still do. Considering my paragraph defending Mamma Mia, I suppose some will find that odd; however, I don't.

Now, not a bad film as such, but I didn't like the direction it took, and that film is - wait for it! - Aliens. Sure, on a popcorn munching level I can see why it's popular, and it suffices fine on that level, but when I walked out of the cinema back in the mid-eighties after watching the film, I was sure annoyed how Cameron turned a ground-breaking, moody, horror/science fiction film into some cheesy, trite and cliched action film for the teenager inside us. Again, it's not a bad film, but it's not the kind of film that really appeals to me, particularly when the original film was so ground-breaking.

Mamma Mia is god awful don't get it at all, and Titanic too.
Tinker tailor soldier spy -very close to walking out of the cinema but I figured there might be some great twist at the end. There wasn't.
Gone with the wind - yawn.
I love Alien/s.

Mamma Mia was crap, but Avatar was the big one. Turned it off before the top of the first hour because it was too clunky.

Also, I hated Happy Feet, boring as hell

Lord of the Rings - board to tears in the cinema watching it...still cant bring myself to watch the sequels.

Also Mamma Mia - put it off for ages, the songs are great but I'd rather listen to them on a CD than watch the film again I've not watched Avatar so far, just cant bring myself to waste a few hours

The Matrix.....I just don't get what the 'big deal' is. I normally enjoy sci-fi but this I found extremely boring.

I started watching Grease off my PVR the other day, deleted it after 5 minutes, bit too musical for my liking. I did watch Grease 2 when I was younger.

Inception, thought it was a load of waffle, however I really liked The Matrix.

Titanic
I just not keen on romance and a film devoted to a romance instead of the ship is a dull fest for me.

The Godfather. Absolutely hated it. So much so I gave my DVDs of all 3 films away for free.
