Seriously he is the innocent one in all of this and people are treating him like he was the one that killed Hev.

Yes I feel sorry for him. Ben's attack on Heather was very quick, she died instantly there was nothing he could have done, but he should have owned up to what he saw, but couldn't because of Ben and Phil, but probably more Phil.

Problem is, he is the one out of prison, they can't take their anger out on Ben as he is inside, and they probably wouldn't dare have a go at Phil, so Jay is taking the brunt of everyones anger.

Yep, my heart is breaking for him.

People think he was an accomplice but really, he was just there.

Yes I feel incredibly sorry for him. I honestly believe that he has suffered the most guilt and remorse since her death, he's tried to go to the Police a couple of times and been leant on wither with physical threats or emotional blackmail and the carrot of being part of a family. And at he end of the day, he has no-one: all these Mitchells put their biological kin before him. Billy is a coward and I'm glad they raised the Jase issue again and you can see his point - Lola is in a very dodgy position keeping Lexie and herself out of care or Juvvy but Phil. He's a monster, you'll walk out the way you walked in - with nothing. Charming.

To be honest a lot of the people judging him haven't exactly done great things themselves!

I feel really sorry for him!

I don't, he should have done the right thing straight away. He still wasn't going to do it until he was caught and he absolutely had to do it.

Yes i feel so sorry for him, it seems people are 'hating' on him more than ben, i just wanted to give him a big hug
All the people he saw as family and supposedly loved him turn against him, and everything he said to billy was the truth.

Only to an extent. He was far too laid back about it at the begining of the episode. Then he gave Patrick his excuse about having to look after his poor little brother. He expected Billy to take him in even though he'd chosen Phil over him.

In the end scenes we saw a change, a realization of the consequences of his misplaced loyalty, and only then did I feel sorry for him.

I was very sorry for Jay last night. Phil is a monster - more so than Ben imo. Throwing poor Jay out with nothing just because Jay did the right thing and refused to change his statement. He even told Phil Ben wanted him to tell the truth.

I can understand Billy putting Lola and Lexi first but he shouldn't have been so quick to judge as regards Heather's death. Sadly because both Ben and Jay covered Phil's involvement from the police and only Shirley knows about that Jay is taking most of the blame, especially as people can't have a go at Ben since he is in prison.

Though Phil was proven right in what he said that night "if anyone finds out what reall happened here tonight you two will be thought of as monsters and you'll be hunted down" except if Ben had confessed immediately and Jay had backed him up people might not have been as angry as they are now.

I thought that was because he was covering up Phil's involvement yet again. Remember Jay was traumatised and he was following Phil and Ben's orders half the time.

I agree with your post.

In Billy's case, I'd say what he did on the night Jase died (i.e. hide in the shower) gives him even less of a right to judge Jay.

I agree. Again I do undestand why Billy did what he did but I agree that it gives him less of a right to judge Jay. Billy knows Jay. He must know if he bothered to think about it that Jay was in a difficult situation and it wasn't just a case of standing by and watching Ben lash out at Heather - that is not in Jay's character. And I see from the spoilers that nobody has thought back to Jay's behaviour the last few weeks (his supposed food poisoning on the night Heather died, his arguments with Phil and Ben, his depression, the way he clung to Abi before she left etc).

Yeah, I can sort of understand why Billy hid - he didn't want to die. Having said that, he, too, lied to cover his tracks out of his own free will, leading Jay to believe he'd tried to save his dad; Phil and Ben banded together to keep Jay from spilling the beans, and it wasn't always easy as he wanted to come clean.

Unfortunately, the residents of Walford aren't exactly the best judges of character and for a number of people who dislike him - Max, Tanya, Andrew and Cora - his odd behaviour might be misconstrued as him struggling to come to terms with "his part in her murder".

This is what i was going to post. But also wanted to say that this is often typical of people generally, especially the very next day or whatever. they don't analyse or look back on events, they just react, especially about something so raw. So in actual fact i think its probably quite a realistic initial reaction from the community. Us as viewers "should" feel sorry for him, i think, because we are the only ones who've seen what he's been going through

I dont feel all that sorry for him. As soon as he saw what happened he could have told the police. Sure he would have been kicked out of the mitchells but billy definitely would have taken him in.

Even now he could tell marsden the truth, how phil has threatened and blackmailed him into covering for ben. Surely its clear to jay now that phil thinks less of him that he does his son who murdered somebody. He has no loyalty to phil anymore so unless he tells everything to the police i have no sympathy at all.

He didnt kill heather but he stood by and covered for ben for too long. He could have confessed the night they were all questioned.

Yes-he may not have done the right thing at the time but we've seen that he's been through a hell of a lot. On top of him taking the abuse that Ben should have got he's now ended up homeless. With any luck Patrick (and Cora?) will look after him and set him on the straight and narrow.
