On nearly every thread there is talk of bullying. People have such differing views, I decided to look it up.

bully

SYLLABICATION: bul·ly
PRONUNCIATION: bl
NOUN: Inflected forms: pl. bul·lies

1. A person who is habitually cruel or overbearing, especially to smaller or weaker people. 2. A hired ruffian; a thug. 3. A pimp. 4. Archaic A fine person. 5. Archaic A sweetheart.

I guess there is a definition there for everyone!!

So whether you love or loathe Janet, or (like me) just want to see a little entertainment over the next few days rather than a yawn-fest, at least we can all pick one of the above definitions and agree. She IS a bully (I think she is a 3/4/5 !)

I think we can all be accused of the above at times. We are after all not perfect. That's what make life so interesting.

Yep..she's a bully...She's acting on the belief that Paul is incredibly unpopular and people are still holding a grudge because of the bad press, the book and can't seem to grasp the court case failed to find him guilty of anything...She seems to believe having a go at Paul will make her popular...typical bully behavior....

I would go for definition 1.

As to the pronounciation, that's interesting. Just how do you say "bl"

JSP is more than a bully. She thinks she is in charge although who gave her that position - no one but herself. They should all get together and put her in her place. Cleaning the dunny would be good to begin with. Mind you, she can be funny at times. Paul or Joe to win.

That's why she has picked on Sophie as well, because she thinks everyone will dislike her. I just hope they both beat her, I couldn't bear to listen to her if she won.

Sure, Janet can be a bully sometimes. Can't we all - and prob not even notice when we are doing it, which is prob worse and more harmful. Janet is hilarious ! so I for one forgive her. and I really don't think she is cruel. PS - Paul seems to be loving it too !

I think the popularity thing is secondary. If there were no cameras she would STILL try to come out on top in any interaction. It's just how she is. Love her or hate her, any "acts" soon slip and she reverts to type!

She can be sharp, rude and overbearing, but none of the evictees has had a bad word to say about her. If they had felt bullied, someone would surely have complained

Thanks! I've been struggling to summarise my view of this, and you just did it perfectly!

i dont know, but when sophie was in the bush telegraph the other day she couldnt understand why they thought she was spawn of the devil, it may not be phyisical bullying but it could be meantal bullying which is just as bad

I don't think Janet is a bully per se, but she is overbearing, and a miserable old bat! Sheila was definitely a bully (in the full context of definition 1).

Worse in my book............bruises heal , mental scars take far longer.

Sophie is already fighting a mental battle at the minute,
for thestronger characters to add to this with more mental crap . ie cutting her dead everytime she spoke, rollin eyes, sniping and blanking her is tantamount to bullying.

She keeps referring to the royal thing with Paul too, knowing full well he's been trying to steer clear of the subject.
She keeps wanting to remind the public .
Her comment " ok lets have a discussion about betraying your employer " IMO was pure poison ..............and as usual as with most bullies ,pretend its all in jest.

Yes Janet is clever , she has used both Paul and Sophies "achillies heel" to the maximum effect.
Pity her intelligence could'nt be used better in her so called banter.
When challenged she relies on the below the belt "cheap shot" that just causes an uncomfortable silence.

I for one am glad to see its starting to backfire on her.

Do you really believe that Janet is a bully? Paul is thriving on it and Sophie is not whining - I think Janet has the ability to bring the best out in people. She is a born leader and certainly knows all the tricks of the trade.

Paul appears to be thriving on it , and yes has gained a lot of support from it.

But IMO its his way of dealing with it, its a good tactic to pretend you are loving " the jibes" with bullies and hope they get bored and back off.

Sophie on the other hand , as i see it , is using the "rising above it tactic" Keeping dignified throughout and overly sweet in return to make the bullies look stupid.

As i say, this is just how i see it ,
and will admit lots of politics going on too,
I think they wont want to criticise Janet too much as they think she will be popular outside.

Yes Janet is a bully and I don't see how anyone can describe her as otherwise. I hope that one day she gets a taste of her own medicine and someone shows her that in fact she is not as wonderful as she obviously thinks she is.

I am all for women standing their ground and taking the lead (I have been accused of being a strong personality myself) but she makes me ashamed to be female.

Celtic Star I agree with you 100%, you've put it better than I ever could. Good posts.

I think JSP is over-bearing and loud, but she actually plays on that and exaggerates it as it is what people expect of her. I do think after watching her recently she does have a caring sensitive side too.

Maybe because the 2 victims are still in there, it will be interesting to see what they say, when they come out.

I think the biggest bully's in there were Shelia and Nat

JSP seems to be liked in the camp and people don't get that at all , she would not have got so far in her life if she was totally unlikeable ! she is what she is , she has a very caring side to and they have seen it

Paul and her are getting on really well lately lots of banter etc and Sophie seems to be warming to her too
doesn't that tell you something ???

I have to agree with you I am pretty strong and can be stubborn but never downright rude. I do think the word bully is overplayed but yes I do think Janet is a bully.
