Help needed. DNS problem, can't connect to websites.
This might be vague so I'm hoping someone will just say "ah yeah this is a common problem and incredibly easy to solve" (but I doubt it).
I have a really old laptop that I download everything on - its been working hard recently as i am working my way through The Shield. It is running XP. When I came home last night I tried to get onto a few websites and it said 'DNS Lookup Failed' 'Page Not Found' or some such. It shows the PC is connected locally only, so it reaches the router then there is a big X from router to internet. All my phones, iPad and my mac works its just this one laptop. Any quick solutions? This laptop is like 7 years old at least so if it has to go it has to but it sounds like a software problem? EDIT: I wonder if its something to do with this http://superuser.com/questions/43205...g-occasionally "While using uTorrent, DNS periodically stops responding". |

It's probably more than a DNS problem, but you could try the following (Google) URL to prove it: http://173.194.78.94 If that gets you nothing, or a DNS error then you'll need to run ipconfig to check if your DHCP client is getting anything from the router. Is it a wired or wireless connection? Check the cable if wired of course.

is there like a reset button?
