It was easier at Christmas - more to watch, but only 3 channels to bother looking at in the guides.

Also new in primetime on BBC1 that week in 1989 was on Sunday, First of the Summer Wine and Howard's Way, on Monday Watchdog, Telly Addicts and Streets Apart, on Tuesday The Vet (a documentary), on Wednesday Doctor Who (at 7.35, of course), on Thursday Blankety Blank and In Sickness and In Health and on Friday Challenge Anneka and Casualty. It was always terrifically exciting, especially when towards the end of summer you'd get a ten minute preview one night of all the goodies to come. And around that time CBBC would start their new season the following week, thus extending the excitement.
Though of course, there were still plenty of repeats filling the gap, and virtually everything on primetime BBC1 this week is brand new (apart from Friday), but it's all been running for weeks.”

Those were the days! In September all the new stuff started and you'd look out for the Autumn trailers and get really excited when they came on showing new programmes and films! Remember some of these?
