WRONG. I'm 23 and I know of the Ewings and Dallas. I've never seen the original series, but will be tuning in tonight. I'm sure I won't be the only one.

Pleased A Mother's Son got good ratings. Best one-off ITV1 drama series since Marchlands in my opinion

I'm still not entirely convinced Dallas will mean a lot to those who haven't seen the original, which would be most 16-24 year olds. But, it does have a ridiculously large hype around it, enough to intrigue me, despite my never seeing the originals...

Thanks for those DMN.

No one else think CBB is looking a tad lower than it should be? Not much but I'd have expected 2m+ yesterday and today...

Bad Education continues to be a hit for BBC Three; which is annoying as I enjoy moaning about the new controller more than praising him But it seems Whitehall has really managed to sort out his character from his often over-annoying type to a more relatable 'man child' type. Both his acting and the scripts are really good, some great jokes in there and better than I'd usually expect from him.

EDIT: Also a great New Girl rating there. They've at least managed to get something out of it. Ch4 scheduling remains bizzare however, why they put it on there and in the slot they did I have no idea.

Probably a side effect of people watching A Mother's Son on +1 taking away a few viewers.

We seen a peak figure on Friday I think it was of 0.2m, but that's about it.

Hm...its a strong +1 rating; but am not sure if the demographics would side up together to give much reason drop (might be 100% ofc). Possible though, be interesting to see how it does as the bread to the Ch5 Sandwich tonight.

I would argue against the show being "pointlessly miserable" - yes, it is miserable, but there are clear messages and ideas being evoked and the moralistic side of it is fascinating. It's a show which provides few, if any, easy answers and I for one am grateful for this.

Drama with a bit of depth and grey areas surpasses drama by numbers in my opinion, and The Accused is a prime example of excellent realistic storytelling, "warts and all". Life isn't always lovely and easy, or neatly packaged. Sometimes it's unfair, open to interpretation and yes, grim.

Powerful depictions as such are commendable.”

The Street was just as grim as Accused. These shows rarely have mass appeal but are well made sometimes drama shouldn't be all comforting and warm. However there can also be too much grimness. I like a variety of drama but recently it seems BBC1 mostly does grim and ITV does light.

So I look forward to Last Tango In Halifax in the hope that it's a light drama that BBC1 does well. It's sounding promising from what I've heard.

I think CBB is struggling a tiny bit from the competition, Even so it would have got around 1.9m incl +1. Hopefully tonight it could do well (maybe not at 8pm as it's one early) but the later show after Dallas.

Bad Education is a good show I think. I'm getting into it.

Pretty good start for Daybreak I think. It is essentially GMTV now in all but name so it will be interesting to see if it can garner back some of its previous audience.

I thought Daybreak would have been higher with kids back at school.

Am I right in saying that since daybreak launched in 2010, its best audience figures were during the Adrian and Christine Era?

Or whether its existing audience will wither somewhat as the novelty of the change wears off.

not sure i agree with "pretty good start" but at this case, any increase will be welcomed by ITV.

We can't really tell. This isn't like when Daybreak first launched, its not that big enough of a thing. Instead it'll be over a longer period of time we need to compare the two breakfast shows.

I feel Breakfast has got even stronger since the move and that Daybreak is just saying goodbye to some of the audience it has left.

But we can't tell anything from these figure imo.

You've just made me feel very old! Let's not forget Dallas ran until 1991. I'm 33 but can clearly remember the last few seasons. It was a different age in which a US import could sit centre-stage on prime time BBC1. What was the last import to air in core peak time on one of the two big channels? X Files ran on BBC1 Saturday nights, didn't it, but I think it might have been on quite late?

Looking at last September's Daybreak ratings:
Mon 5/9/11: 0.7m (18.2%)
Tue (can't find)
Wed 7/9/11: 0.8m (18.9%)

I do remember the show at its peak, but this was at least 30 years ago, and for all it will attract a curious audience at first, I think people would sooner remember the show as it was as somehow a cast of elderly Ewings and younger characters you've never heard of doesn't seem attractive. Also revivals of shows like Minder years after they've finished don't seem to work.

wasnt Minder a Channel 5 show starring Shane Ritchie? no way the new Dallas can be as unlucky as that.

Cant see anyone under 30 having any memory of Dallas.

New Dallas premiered in Ireland on Monday night without too much of a fuss, don't know what ratings it got, but I've not heard people talk about it, and only saw two mentions on my Twitter and Facebook feeds, it may indeed have got big ratings, but I was surprised it wasn't more of a water cooler moment IYKWIM?
It seems to have got a HUGE push in UK Media so I think Channel 5 will be looking for 3m+ figures.

I think X Files was on BBC1 at 9.30pm in '98, after Airport on Saturday.

And don't forget, Pushing Daisies was on peaktime ITV in 2008, another US import (I think).
