Or perhaps they're planning to run it alongside The Voice?

It may not even be for Saturday night. Unless they've announced otherwise of course. Britain's Brightest is a terrible name though.

BBC never run two major entertainment shows on the same night.
We'll just have to wait and see. Like when we had to wait for NBC to confirm that there would be a fall season of the Voice. A possibility you continually rubbished on here.

That's incredibly similar to what NBC were saying coming out of the second season in the US. Ultimately though they came to the conclusion that everyone else arrived at as soon as they said it – keeping the spinning chairs beyond the auditions doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. As I said before I think ultimately they'll adopt the same format NBC is using for season 3 of The Voice. Assuming the format works (which they'll have time to judge). There doesn't strike me as a whole lot else you can do with the show.

I'm also not sure how they're going to have fewer live shows for series two. Didn't the first run only have 5 or something like that? How on earth is that going to work?

Good to see that Law and Order UK has been renewed for 8 episodes in 2013. Though the delay in deciding has lost Freema Ageyaman to US TV and Harriet Walters to something else. The rest of the cast are staying.

Do we know what ITV's plans are for Saturday nights later this year?

There's an extra series of Take Me Out so I'm guessing that'll get the 7pm slot before X Factor?

Piers Morgan's Life Stories could continue in the Friday 9pm slot or move back to Saturdays after X Factor?

There's the Surprise, Surprise revival with Holly Willoughby as well. I think it's just a one off special but it's from ITV Studios so I'm guessing the special might get a trial run around X Factor to give it a boost?

I don't know if I'd go so far as to say it lacks the potential for embarrassment. Perhaps not quite the obvious disaster of something like Don't Scare The Hare but there's a fairly long list of potential problems for a show like The Brightest Briton. The biggest one that strikes me is that because its being commissioned as a big Saturday night show they come over all Red or Black and go big purely for the sake of being big despite it adding nothing and often times highlight major flaws with the format. And they really, really need to change the name.


Didn't Jimmy McGovern oversee a project somewhat similar to this where he picked and worked with up and coming writers to pen one off dramas? I want to say Moving On but I could be wrong about that. None the less its a brilliant idea and it'll be interesting to see who comes aboard as 'mentors'. And on a related note the BBC could spin the behind the scenes process of this off into a weird reality series (that basically nobody will watch).

It's a complete travesty that Breaking Bad isn't broadcast in the UK. It's the best TV series since Six Feet Under. It's incredible.

That's because the fourth season is ridiculously addictive (and brilliant). Topped only by season five which is even better so far. I still cannot for the life of me understand why nobody airs this in the UK.

When it beats Mad Men to the Best Drama Emmy next month Sky are going to kick themselves.

Just looking at Digiguide, why does BBC 3 have so much TBA on Sunday 9th still? and on the rest of the weeks BBC 3 chedule generally.

I wonder if NBCUniversal wants to get Law and Order UK to syndication, it's currently at 39 episodes at the moment and the 8 episode renewal brings it up to 47 episodes. They need another 18 episodes to get to 65 episodes which would be enough to sell it for syndication purposes.

I can't wait to see it. I've just realised 4 hasn't landed here in the UK yet. (Coming September 1st)

So glad this has finally been picked up over here, and should have a home until it ends as I doubt they're expecting it to do much and it must be pretty cheap. It's one of the best, if not the best, US comedies at the moment and it was a crime no one was airing it over here.

That will please a lot of people over on the US subforum. That one and Community are the ones that get asked about constantly.

Parks is oddly a good fit for BBC Four which has a history of airing oddball comedy such as Flight of the Conchords, The Chaser's War on Everything etc

Fantastic news. The first season is (as it was with The Office US) a decidedly dodgy affair but from season two onwards its just pure gold and indeed one of the best comedies on US television right now.

So agreed. Those figures show theres a lot of demand. They WATCHED all 13! Thats better than Mad Men rated on Sky Atlantic ffs!

This is something Ch4 should have jumped on. Someone should have this show as a big part of their schedule.

Well, at least I can finally see what all the fuss is about.

Stick with it after the first season. It gets much, much better.

In other news I've just watched some of The CW's Oh Sit (musical chairs meets Wipeout) and I'm now absolutely terrified this is going to turn up on Saturday night television in the UK. Although maybe the fact that the BBC have pulled the plug on Wipeout will put people off...
