Scheduling update: Dallas starts Wednesday 5th September at 9pm on Channel 5 (HD), the tasty filling in a Celebrity Big Brother sandwich. Repeated on the Thursday.
Wednesday 5th September 8pm: Celebrity Big Brother (New Episode) 9pm: Dallas (New Series) 10.15pm: Celebrity Big Brother (New Episode) Thursday 6th September 9pm: Celebrity Big Brother (Live Finale) 10.30pm: Celebrity Big Brother's Bit on the Side (Series Finale) 11.15pm: Dallas (Repeat) To muddy the waters slightly ahead of the final schedules tomorrow, John Barrowman's two part documentary on the revival is repeated on Sunday 2nd September from 7.55pm. However, I'm not expecting any major late changes to the above. |

Wednesday 5th Mrs Biggs isn't going to be a huge rating but Ch5 might be surprised at a drama in there. All Star Mr & Mrs returns to ITV1 at 8, followed by new drama Mrs Biggs - which is until 10:30. Dallas starts at 9 on Five, in a Celeb BB sandwich. All Star Mr & Mrs is odd, that should be on Saturday before X Factor; but then Doctor Who might kill it anyway - best use R/B as a sacrificial lamb to the Daleks and Weeping Angels I suppose. All its good for. |

Yes, Doctor Who will be back on September 1 as rumoured for some time now. You sense things could get somewhat embarrassing for an already up against it Red or Black as the two look set to do battle on Saturday nights.

Just confirmed by executive producer Greg Daniels that The Office will end its run this year with its ninth season. I fully expect Michael J Fox's new show to become the centrepiece of NBC's Thursday night line-up in 2013-2014. And it now makes a little more sense that they went all out to get it since presumably they knew this was coming.
Additionally ABC have just announced a major change in their late night schedule. Jimmy Kimmel Live is switching places with Nightline and moving to the 11:35PM slot. That's put it up against The Tonight Show and Letterman. The signs that this has been coming has been there for a while but they've finally pulled the trigger. This might very well put the cat amongst the pigeons in late night because Kimmel has been building some pretty impressive ratings momentum. His Emmy hosting gig only raises his profile further. The switch will happen January 8. |

Doctor Who's final numbers have remained impressive and its total reach figures even more so but its overnights haven't exactly been setting the world alight lately. If anything if its going against the complete dud that is Red or Black the pressure is going to be on Doctor Who to hit it out of the park. Hopefully a consistent 7PM start time will help achieve that. This could be something of a blessing in disguise for ITV though. Another series of 'Doctor Who ratings crisis' stories like those we saw last year will only distract from Red or Black. |

Does it feature rounds on scheduling lame comedies after your biggest rating show of the year.... ![]() I think it needs a promotion to Tuesday primetime with a name like that!

Why isn't part 3 of the ratings thread available to read?
I would particularly love to read the posts following the post saying 'BGT final peaks at 19 million', or something along the lines of that. |

Apologies if I've missed it, but anything for C4's Paralympic build-up show at 7:30 last night?

That josepharmstrong person is very very odd; I quoted something from him last week (can't remember now) that was just as odd.
Best ignored. Either one of the sad trolls who aren't talking at anyone just wasting their own time, or has other issues. Not a sign of soap fans overall it should be said. |

What are the highest ratings a children's show (show that is usually broadcast on CBBC or Cbeebies) has gotten on BBC One in the children's slot (3-5pm)?

So a day later after I say BB is struggling - its bounces back and hits 2.2m. That showed me!
![]() Looks like its going to do OK after all.The C4 doc related less than I expected whilst the ITV drama totally bombed. Not sure if it was any good - but those numbers suggest otherwise. And from next Monday - ITV are going to be for a very rough ride in the 9pm slot with ratings juggernaut New Tricks returning. Not sure what they've got lined up...anyone know? Meanwhile the soaps really seem to be struggling post Olympics. I was surprised to see Emmerdale sub 6m on a Monday. Doesn't bode well for the rest of the week. Revenge continues to do the business on E4. 0.7m (inc +1) is a very good result for its 13th episode (of the 22-episode run). In the officials (excluding the episode 5 rating - which still hasn't been updated in the 6-week amendment cycle ), Revenge is currenly averaging 829k (excluding +1). The Monday slot was definitely the best spot for it. It's the best new show of 2012 IMO.

They're ending two of their centerpiece comedies (Office, 30 Rock), possibly ending another (Parks & Rec.) and lining up another two to be smothered (Community, Whitney), either they're very confident in their new material (and Up All Night, the only comedy that looks like it might stick around) or somebody at NBC's comedy dept. is panicking right about now. |

Drama on BBC TV next week: The usual suspects - Eastenders, Casualty, Holby City, Waterloo Road - plus Inspector George Gently, Murder, New Tricks, Accused, Vexed, Good Cop and Parade's End. That's next week - the last week in August.
What happened to the good old days when August on BBC1 was wall-to-wall repeats?ITV1 not so well endowened. Next week the only drama they have is Coronation Street, Emmerdale, The Last Weekend and X Factor producers desperately trying to think of a way to boost their flagging ratings. ![]() ITV1 winding up their summer with a glut of football (Champions League qualifier, Super Cup) and documentary (Harry's Mountain Heroes, Super Tiny Animals, Britain Then And Now, Britain At Night) Incidentally, the Super Cup on Friday gives ITV a couple of extra Corrries to use at some point in the future. Unless they've already used them. Seemed to be a hell of a lot of extra episodes between the Euros and the Olympics. Or it might give them another couple of weeks of Wednesday/Thursday Corries to bridge the period when it switches from Thursdays to Wednesdays. |

Signs of stress are begging to show at NBC...

I have to say though that I quite liked Go On and Animal Practice (Animal Practice in particular). Go On is a lot like Community with the crazy turned down so it'll be interesting to see how that pans out. I can't say I'm in anyway, shape or form looking forward to The New Normal. The more I see of that the worse it looks. |

To be fair to ITV1, they have Mrs Biggs and The Bletchley Circle starting the week after.
Just good to see so much drama on both the BBC and ITV1 in the next few weeks. |

I think Parks & Rec has more chance of surviving than Up All Night. I'm still somewhat surprised Up All Night got a second season to be honest and at this stage Parks has the much better slot. Up All Night is being thrown under the Two and a Half Men bus if memory serves. In truth though this is probably quite a good thing for NBC. They desperately need to reboot Thursday night and their comedy slate in general so everything dying out is probably for the best. Assuming they have the guts to follow through on that and can develop some decent new shows.

I think I'd prefer repeats in August so they could do the old 1990s style 'New Season' in September.
The TV mags have been branded 'New Season' since the one starting 18th August!. On another point, are there enough middle of the road drama viewers around to ensure that 2 dramas going head to head at 9pm can both be a success. It seems lately if one is a success the other one is forced into a failure as there aren't enough people watching in total. |

Ouch for Toast of London, the Channel 4 funny fortnight is a real mixed bag especially the pilots for new comedies.

Says a lot though, poor ratings for a new comedy, massive ratings for just airing Peter Kay's last DVD which required zero effort from a TV point of view.

I rather liked Toast, but had a nagging feeling I'd be the only one. That really is a terrible rating. I don't think I've seen a rating of just 300k before at 10pm on C4, not for something seemingly so mainstream.
