The Best of 3 (Phones)
Hi I'm about to get a new phone. I've come up with a choice of 3 they are:
Motorola Motoluxe, Nokia Lumia 710 or Sony Xperia U Those are the choices I've been given. Which phone is the best ? I'm interested in battery life, surfing the web and a couple of apps on it. Not interested in an Apple. Not too worried if its Android or Windows phone. I currently have a Samsung Galaxy Ace which is pretty crap. Thanks. |

The Nokia without a doubt. I sell all three, got the 710, great screen, camera, browser. My main apps I use are Twitter and Spotify, they both work great. The Motorola is o.k, but don't be deceived by the high MP on the camera, the lens is poor and there is too much compression on the imaging, making the Nokia's 5 MP actually better. The Sony is easily the poorest, very flimsy construction.

Not interested in how the camera functions. I've only got a few apps on my current phone. Namely Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, Jorte and Opera and a couple others.
That's about all I use it for. |

The XU is a smaller version of a high end android with dual core cpu and it well made not flimsy at all. My other half has one in preference to a larger android and it is very good. Only downside is the no sd card support. If you use FB as you point out the integration on the XU is very good. |

for now i would hold off windows phones until windows phone 8 makes an apearence, at the moment it may be a case of waiting a little bit, motorola are not exactly known for their support ( i have a defy ) if you want the best from a moto phone you will be looking at custom roms and thats not that easy with locked bootloaders, so that leaves the sony xperia.

the clear plastic bit on the Sony looks out of place and a bit gimmicky though.
the Nokia thinking about it looks cheap. the Motorola looks ok not worried about upgrading to ICS and fancy stuff |

For Battery life it has to be Huawei G300 . Just done 3 days with 3 - 4 calls a day , a few txt , a moderate amount of browsing each day and its still has 12% remaining . What does kill the battery is running Navigation with the screen on all the time !!

one thing that i would advise you to do is to have a good look at whatever phone yout thinking of getting, are these PAYG or contract?
~with android different companys have differetn ways of doing things, and hwat may be good woth one variation of android, may not be so good on another. Its also worth lokoing at a companys track record on phone updates, this is not just about the latest fancy things, but updates can also improve battery life, and fix any problems and bugs. Although its mainly an android mod site ( with a bit of windows phone and older stuff as well) , if your goign down the android phone route take a look at the forums at XDa developers dot com even if your using your phone as "stock" you can get somew useful advice on what you are thinking of buying including the shortcomings of any phone. |

The Motorola is going to be sluggish compared to the other two, as it only has a single core 800MHz processor. The Sony has a 1GHz dual-core processor, and the Nokia 1.4GHz. That alone would be enough for me to take the Motorola out of the equation.
And the Motorola runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The Sony does too, but there's an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 impending. The Nokia, however, is a Windows (7.5 Mango) rather than an Android phone. If apps are a primary concern for you, then you need to take into account what's available for each. And indeed whether the apps you're familiar with are available at all on Windows Phone (I believe the apps you've mentioned are, but others you like may not be). You've not said whether any other factors are important to you, such as price, looks, construction, screen dimensions, resolution, storage, etc. The Sony is certainly limited as far as storage is concerned, with only 8GB built-in (half of which isn't available to you) and no expansion slot. The Nokia only has 8GB too, and again no expansion options. The Motorola at least has a microSD slot, so you can add a further 32GB to the 1GB internal memory. The Sony has a 3.5 inch screen, the Nokia 3.7, and the Motorola has a 4 inch screen. The Sony and Motorola offer 854 x 480 pixels, the Nokia 800 x 480. Edit: I'd agree that the Nokia "looks cheap". |

just had a play with all 3 and the one I've decided on is the Nokia Lumia 710. It seems a lot more organised than the others. Plus its £99 at Carphone Warehouse bargain !
Now to transfer my number to the micro sim Thanks all |
