It's quite handy as the web player now streams via Mac based products... Is it HTML5 code? Still, looks better!

FIP?

The player isn't playing some streams it says no stream found even though it plays on Android.

The worst thing about Tunein despite it's attractive interface is that there isn't a facility to allow the adding of custom urls/streams.

Xiialive and the US$1.99 paid version of MediaU are my choices for Android. MediaU allows you to add custom streams to your own portal at their webside, your bookmarked stations are saved/stored there and synced to your device, couldn't be better!

I have downloaded MediaU apps on both my Android phone and TV Media Players both devices can access the same bookmark folders.

I also have a Western Digital HDTV media player, which came loaded with a 'cutdown' version of tunein/radiotime, it was frustration on toast to say the least. Firstly, the WD couldn't decode AAC+ streams, secondly you couldn't choose alternative streams like you can with the app on a smart phone, third the Tunein chooses a stations mp3 stream as default. Most of us know how crap a 64 or 128kbps mp3 stream sounds compared to WMA,AAC or best of all AAC+.

Are you talking the Tunein website? It does suggest you can but it's only for certain devices like Roku Internet radio's.

Go to this url: http://tunein.com/support/android/

Scroll down to "Can I add a custom station URL?" Then you will see this:
"TuneIn on the Android does not currently support this functionality"

No such restriction on Android with the other two apps.

Noticed Tunein is now supported by Mini Connected which is an option on the new Countryman (but also has DAB as standard)? Wonder if anyone has tried it.

What is special about MINI Connected?
MINI will be the world's first car manufacturer ever to offer a integrated Webradio function. MINI Connected offers a newly developed, functionally quite unique USB interface for optimum integration of the Apple iPhone in the car's audio and infotainment system. Exclusive to MINI, this technology sets the foundation for full integration of Smartphone functions to a standard never seen before.
How is MINI Connected operated? Does it use the cars audio system?
MINI Connected can be operated with the cars control systems, like the MINI Joystick or the steering wheel controls. All information is displayed on the screen integrated in the car and the internal audio system of the car. This helps to make MINI Connected and the Webradio function very convenient, safe and intuitive to handle.
When will MINI Connected be available?
MINI Connected will be available within the market launch of the MINI Countryman.

I'm not a fan of the changes on the website. The Playlists for each station are now significantly truncated. I found these invaluable when looking for streams that best matched my musical tastes. Fortunately the iOS app still displays the extended playlists.

TuneIn have done a great job of establishing themselves as the top Internet radio resource - and it is all due to the tireless work of their administrative team in keeping the stations database updated and relevent in combination with the excellently conceived mobile applications. I am about to ditch my clunky Reciva and Frontier-powered Internet radio sets in favour of a wireless 'docking' system, through which I will use TuneIn from a mobile device.

Since finally getting myself an android phone with web connectivity, downloading this app has revolutionised my radio listening. As a big fan of sports radio, TuneIn has opened me up to a new world of radio stations both from throughout the UK and around the world, which I can listen to when on the move and in the office as well as at home. Before it used to annoy me that I couldn't listen to Test Matches when out and about as I didn't have LW or DAB on my walkman.

I can't stress enough how wonderful I think TuneIn is, it isn't perfect but it really is a terrific app/website.

Just Fantastic

I use Tunein in my car via my iphone connected to the aux of my car radio and listen to crystal clear radio. I listen to 5live which is very clear and consistent. Can even here Peter Allen clicking his mouse on his studio PC.

Also Love lite rock so Canadian CHFI from Toronto is great and New York Mix 95.1 plays fantastic music. The breakfast show that starts at 10am UK time (5am Toronto time) is great.

I've done this as well and one of the radio apps I've used worked with bluetooth - not tunein. So we couple the phone and get it charged at the same time with the phone also connected to the Cars USB point. Only real problem is, you need to either stick to one station all of the trip or have a passenger on hand to change stations or you might cop a fine for using a mobile whilst driving.
