Sony Xperia S or Samsung Galaxy S3
Which one would you choose from the Sony Xperia S or Samsung Galaxy S3. I can't choose and i've read a few reviews but just wondered what people on here thought..if anyone has any of these 2 phones and could give an opinon? I would be getting it for a 24 month contract and I am looking for a good smartphone with a good camera that will still feel like a decent phone in 2 years time. I have quite small hands so the Samsung worries me but compared to my last phone all smartphones are fairly big, I wonder if you get used to the size

The s3 is a fundamentally better phone. Unless you can get a good deal on the Sony or something like that there really is no contest.

depends on how much you are paying which would be better value but the s3 is the better phone easily.

The Sony's CPU was already behind the competition when it was announced and it's way behind now, who knows what new apps, games etc will appear in the next 24 months that it would struggle to handle. |

I read that Sony Xperia S is testing the latest version of android and this is one of the reasons why the s3 is considered better..because it runs a more updated version of android.
I can get both phones free for £26 a month (slightly diff tariffs) though with the Sony this deal is through the network directly and I could walk out the shop with the phone whereas S3 I would need to order online from somewhere else so a bit less security there when it comes to troubles with the phone. I also want to keep my number and with the S3 this would mean I would have to transferr my number to another sim and then back onto my new phone which seems like a lot of hassle, just wondering if there is a lot of difference or minimal |

As far as I am aware the Sony Xperia S and S3 are similar size, Isaw them both the other day, the s3 being a bit bigger, main difference being the s3 a bit wider and with curves, Xperia s straight edge. So if you don't want a big phone, then sony xperia s might not be the one to go for?

That's a little misleading the XS has a fast dual core, what your saying is no one should consider anything other than a quad core phone right now which is not true.
Clock speed is not a measure of performance, it's just a measure of clock speed. In the same way that modern computer CPUs are far more powerful than older ones of the same speed, there's more to mobile CPU performance than clock speed alone. The Xperia S uses a Snapdragon S3 CPU, which is basically the same that HTC used in the Sensation nearly a year before. Even when it was a new, that model of CPU didn't match the performance of the dual-core CPU Samsung had in the Galaxy S2 and the S3 has a quad-core version of the same chip, so there's an even bigger difference in performance there. The performance of the CPU not only dictates how fast/responsive the handset feels but it will have an impact on battery life as well. Not to mention the S3's quad-core chip uses smaller transistors which will also aid battery life. And I didn't say it's not worth considering anything but a quad-core handset just now, I merely said that the S3 is far more 'future-proof' than the Xperia S. Which is true. |

No it's not, in fact it's far less mis-leading that simply saying the Xperia S's CPU is 'fast'.

If your going to judge the worth of a whole phone on some superficial chip spec that is very misleading. |
