Not as easy as dropping an audio file into a "ringtones" directory on the phone (or simply choosing a track from the library on your phone).

And Apple limit you to 30 seconds. When i'm ignoring someone calling me i want the opportunity to listen to the full song, not the same 30 seconds over and over.

I see there are so many things that Android does as basic that iOS seems years away from doing. Apple like simplifying things for its users you see. They know what you want to do before you do.

I have about 4 clicks to redial a frequently called number on my iphone, after unlocking the handset, which is 5 in itself. Thats very usable isn't it.”

4 clicks? Ok so from unlocked its, "Phone" then "Recents" form there you just choose a recently dialed number. Or "Phone" then "Contacts" from there just chose the contact.

So its actually 2 clicks from an unlocked phone,

Or just hold the phone to your head and say "call XXXXX" whoever you want and it will phone them. Or hold phone to head and tell it to "read text" it will then read out the text. Or hold phone to head and say "text xxxx" then tell it what to put in the text.

Siri really is great lol.

I never did that on my Nokia or SE phone as you usually don't want the very start of a song for the ringtone, also it would mean owning the song too.

I would hiwever like it if you could take a mp3, trim it and set it as ringtone all on the phone rather than using the PC.

I usually do want the very start of the song as i always have instrumental pieces that get straight into it (currently using the instrumental of Hikari no Kisetsu).

The only time i'd want to trim it down is when there's a long silence at the beginning or end but i'm generally too lazy to do it (which is why i'm not using this or one of Miko's other excellent Electone efforts).

As for rights, who's going to hassle you about it? A 30-second snippet isn't going to get around that anyway

The macs are alright, they are just expensive for what they are. I'd rather use a windows device as they are better value for money imo. Also windows are more inclusive of other devices/opperating systems, whereas apple doesn't always like to play fairly in terms of compatibility.

Never been interested in the ipad, because even when I liked apple (iphone) I never understood the point in having a tablet that couldn't play flash. I used to have an iphone and an Apple TV. I've used various different ipods in the past too.I've now switched to an android phone and tablet, but I still have the apple TV.

Hacked (which takes 5 min) I think the Apple TV is the best media player out there, I have tried many over the years and haven't been impressed with them but so far the Apple TV plays back everything I have thrown at it from my NAS with XBMC running great also for other functionality.

No, but I have an iPod Touch which is fine for me at the moment. The iPhone's too expensive for me right now (spent the cash on my 2 Macs lol) and aren't you tied down to a contract with it? Never been interested in the iPad, Macbook Airs are just as good (if not better IMO) and are only a couple of hundred quid more.

I know its marvellous isn't it. I look at my Android stuff here and when I press the power button it switches on and it works. Even my unified search works because I am not in the USA.
