Apart from full customisation as obviously that's not something Apple is suddenly going to want people to do.”

I'm still stuck with my iphone atm, but these posts sound pretty refreshing to me.

The whole thing just feels stale. I also cant wait to uninstall the horrendous vulgar iTunes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plus a bit of customisation so there is actually a point in posting to the homescreens thread wouldn't hurt.

The only customisation on iphone i ever did was organise my apps into folders but then iTunes deleted all the apps on my bloody phone when it updated!!!!!!! I was furious!

Many do. If someone has genuinely investigated all options and chosen what is best for them then no problem with that.

But threads like this expose the fact that many apple users simply aren't aware of what android can or can't do. They think apple "just works" and is all integrated whereas android is like DOS :P (showing my age)

It was just earlier this year you were saying how great iOS was, you seemed to have rapidly changed your mind... Have you tried jail breaking to customise it more?

On the flip side there will be plenty of Android owners who slag iOS off even though they have never touched it.

But most of them know what it can or (mostly) can't do

To be clear. I don't like apple. The company. I would never buy an apple product myself (although my wife wants an ipad).

But to me iOS is important because there has to be competition to drive innovation. I read articles about new release of iOS to see what progress is being made. Recently however IMHO iOS doesn't seem to be innovating. I'm guessing its at that fine line between becoming feature rich at the extent of losing its perceived simplicity.

I agree totally with that - it's always good to have strong competition so a company can't get complacent and I have seen with iOS 6 that Apple seem to have come to a brick wall with development...will be interesting to see what iOS 7 and Android 5 bring to the table.

You say contacts, data, pics, music why do you want for example the same music on your phone as your pc or laptop all the time? why do you need the same pics on both? why contacts?

Not sure I get the reasoning behind your questions here ”

Absolutely not so - I simply wanted to ascertain that I fully understood what was being said. You need to be less sensitive and stop jumping to conclusions (wrong ones). As for why you would want data to be synced well I would thought that would be obvious? It's no different to me having GoodSync software on my iMac which I use to sync data done on my other computers, iPad etc. to sync back to my iMac via a NAS. That way it's simple to work on the same documents on various machines.

Not sure why these threads always have to end up so polarised? On the subject of OS X - I am a firm Windows user going back to 3.1 and I still have W7 on my iMac as a VM plus a W7 Lappy. However, I do find OS X a very very nice OS. The ease of use never ceases to amaze me, all the little tricks it can do, installing and deleting progs etc. is a breeze.

I can't see me going back to Windows hardware in a hurry. I think the base iMac is a snip at a grand for what you get.

I just think a lot of people are very insecure in themselves and it shows up when they have to make out that everyone is wrong to have the opposite to what they have have - you see it in a lot of forums but tech sites seem to get it worse!

Well this is off topic for this forum and thread. But feel free to start a new thread, or just see the many that crop up in C&N every week anway.

Or people just like to debate.

I'm a firm believer that people should choose what's right for them. They should just ensure that its an educated choice.

Anyway I have no gripe with iOS. Its a bit bland and not my cup of tea but each to their own.

I do however think apple is a sh** company ..... is that allowed ?

I'm talking about the people that come on here and just slag off a product and don't seem to be able to accept that some people actually do enjoy using a different product from themselves and the type of person that a debate just means constantly slagging something off with nothing to back up what they are saying.

So you wouldn't want any of my Apple stock then?

As I said at the start, I don't get the whole smartphone scene, I'm more than happy with my Nokia candy bar, but I am fascinated by other peoples choice of products.

My point was and is the question was asked and answered yet you still seemed to doubt the answer. I agree there may be times certain things on various devices is preferable but the way you phrased it was can you sync everything between all devices automatically I merely wondered why you would want to.
