Some new castings have not gone down well in my opinion-

Rob Donovan- Marc Baylis is meant to be a successful actor but despite the fact that Rob is sexy the character is not working- he is just a walking ladies man with a huge ego.

Eva Price- really bad actress and really bad casting plus the character is a non stop whinger. get rid

Ryan Connor- this recast has not been a success and I dont rate the actor, he is more like Michelle's boyfriend than her son.

I quite like Eva - I think she's meant to be whine: ie, she's a spoilt brat.

Neither Rob nor Ryan are doing for me either, but it's still early days.

Rob isn't doing it for me either.... like gboy said above its early days.

Ryan recast is just awful, nothing like the old Ryan at all!

Eva is just another character to me I don't pay much attention to her, shes ok I guess.

I would LOVE Cilla to return at least for a guest stint!!!

OP - what do you mean the recasting of Ryan Connor hasn't been a success? On here, it probably hasn't, but as a discussion forum, we don't even equate to a substantial percentage of the total viewing audience ONE SCRAP. You can't make such a bold statement like that - yes, he does look older than the last one, but, judging by the ratings, it really hasn't had viewers turning off at all.

For all we know, viewer research has been quietly carried out on Ryan and the feedback may have been all positive - we just don't know. Our opinions don't generally tend to match those of the wider viewing public.

I prefer Eva to Stella and Karl. She has potential to be good. I know she can be quite annoying at times but I like that about her.

I wouldn't axe Jason or Maria either. Ryan Thomas who plays Jason has real potential as an actor, he's very natural and Jason is very real. They just need to give him a new direction and something to get his teeth stuck into. Maria works really well as a background character, she's just your every day girl and I'm quite liking her and Jason, and her and Marcus.

The wider audience must've been left scratching their heads when they saw the new Ryan Connor as well but his character is so insignificant that he's not going to have them reaching for the off button.

Age, looks, personality aside the worst thing about this recast for me is that it has increased the screentime for Michelle. :yawn:

Catherine Tyldesley is quite popular as Eva isn't she? I mean the character is a spoilt madam but I always thought the actress has been accepted in the role?

As for Rob... why, for pity's sake is he even there? How they managed to convince a fantastic actor like Marc Baylis to play the role is beyond me.
The prod has said in his digital spy interview that Rob was brought in for Carla, so why couldn't the daft sods wait until next year to introduce him when she's back? He is doing naff all until she returns. Poor bloke. I-spy-Rob is just hanging around the place flirting with Eva and Stella. Thats about it.

Collinson probarly fancies Marc Baylis and that is why he was cast...

and Claudia and Aud were a good double act...Rula Lenska added a touch of class t'cobbles...

Rob is a right bore and played by one of the worst actors I've ever seen. How did he get the job???

Ryan is marginally more interesting and better acted, but he is nothing like his previous incarnation.

Ryan is actuall only 11 years younger than Kim Marsh.......and he looks it as well.

Jackie Dobbs!!! So the OP thinks Margi Clarke is a good actress? I am shocked. Jackie Dobbs is without doubt one of the worst characters to have ever graced the street, played by an over the top rent a gob. Jackie and Margi are one in the same no acting involved, people like Margi because she is a "salt of the earth" Scouser with a heart so we are meant to over look her obvious acting short comings, sorry shes awful NEVER allow her back. - Rant over

Doesn't Ryan have some dark stuff coming up with the drugs I think he will do well, but yes he seems to old to be her son.

Rob confuses me. When we first saw him he seemed nice but now i dont get how we are meant to feel towards him. The way he talks and acts is so nasty to everyone even the women who we are supposed to think he likes? I dont think they have quite decided yet if we are meant to warm to him or dislike him.

I dont like ryan because he just seems a bratty teen. I see him as michelles son, the age thing doesnt seem odd to me though.

Marc's easy on the eye, but he's not a great actor and makes Rob seem really boring.

The new Ryan is awful, but I'm not sure it's the actor's fault, more the change in the character.

They'll never get rid of Sean, Anthony Cotton knows where the bodies are buried (it's the only explanation for him still being on the show ). I don't mind Maria, Kirk or Dev but yes, please please will they get rid of Paul and soon!

Couldn't put it better myself SuperSoaper. I thought Ryan was gonna develop better but it's not happening. Not even going to comment on the dreadful Rob.

I wouldn't axe Maria or Jason, i'm really enjoying their storyline.

I wouldn't axe them either. There not the best of characters but they work as background characters together although they were slightly annoying last night

I dont like her because she has the same SL (relationships) after a while its gets boring and to me its shows the writers cant think of anything else to write for her. I just find her to be a pointless character.
