Secondly, because they thought he had potential to become a Celeb Mag-baiting "The Only Way Is Derry"/"Ulster Shore" "bad boy with a heart of gold type" (as they called him themselves!) character who would generate further publicity for BB, and perhaps even get a spin-off show from them if he did well.
That is probably it.

I wonder whether they deliberately put in a racist to recreate the buzz during the Shilpa incident and ignored his rant because they thought it would ramp up viewing figures.

Than I think am I paranoid. Who would be that idiotic and unprincipled? Then I remember that someone at Glencore actually stated that the world food crisis was a good thing for their profits and remember there are some really really unprincipled people in this world.

I personally think it's more to do with gross incompetence coupled with mercenary cowardice rather than any Machiavellian conspiracy. They are that idiotic and unprincipled! The lowest point in BB history for me has been the way they've dealt with Conor.

I hate to even admit this but that thought did briefly occur to me. Bearing in mind that they obviously put Luke A potentially vulnerable transgender professional chef in with macho man Luke S who thought he was the best amateur chef in the world then sat back and waited for the drama I did think MAYBE they had an idea of Conor's tendency but then I thought surely even they wouldn't sink that low.

I think it was more than incompetance or stupidity we saw on one of the bots programmes a "producer" who was commenting on the white room and he said in I thought a rather gleeful way he was disappointed Deana and Conor hadn't been in the room as he had been looking forward to blood on the walls ! Nasty people making a very nasty series IMO

Which producer said this. Was it the one they're always trying to find a boyfriend for?

I think they did set her up..... they set her up with the storyline of victimised girl who the public will see as a poor little heroine and love.
Hence her overwhelmingly positive edits.

But in the end , she blew it as she just couldn't keep her ignorant potty mouth closed for the lasts few days.

This 'rant' some people keep on about, is that one 15 second bit of stupid puerile yet harmless nonsense from a big buffoon during a 2 month period?

Dear me .... BB must have been more dull than I thought this year!

1) Don't know the duration as I didn't time it.

2) Was infantile.

3) Was far from harmless. Would be a bit like saying that a teenager waving a gun around and eventualy shooting someone was puerile and harmless. It only took a few seconds to do but will have a huge impact on someone else's life.

4) Was part of Conors attitude toward Deana which encouraged the others to bully her. So it's not just the rant that was the problem.

I seem to have watched the show more than you,as he also ranted over a megaphone encouraged by other low lifes, plus he ranted during the spam incident, plus he ranted and lied during the D and B incident.
Maybe you conveniently forgot these incidents. It seems to you they were all sweet and innocent except Deana who you call potty mouth, yet others could not string four words together without effin&blinding..I think you need to remove your blinkers.

There will be no apology from BB unless ofcom finds in Deanas favour because to do so is seen as them admitting guilt and they are not going to do that. I think they treated her disgracefully but can only hope they realise the mistakes they made but to be honest I think they will just carry on with the cover up and that will be that.

I have got to say that in all the years I have been on this forum that I have never seen so many fm's in denial about something. I agree with your reply to 'Damanda' this was not a minor incident.

It's weird, isn't it?

The only explanation I can think of based on some comments a while back are 'real BB fans' are worried how the broadcast, fallout and repercussions of the Conor rant may affect and limit future Big Brother Series (or whether there are any at all).

To put that as a priority above and beyond calling for Conor/Ch5/Endemol to face proper and proportionate accountability for the rant; its broadcast; failure to respond to it promptly and appropriately; and now (as of Deana's BBC radio interview yesterday) possibly making and broadcasting blatantly misleading if not wholly false statements on BBBOTS indicating Deana was aware of the situation and fine with it when neither of those things was true at the time (and in fact Deana was only aware of the situation after she left the House about a week ago and is not fine with it) just beggars belief.

That some would rather have the BB that lets Conor off after his words and actions with a verbal Diary Room warning and scripted Diary Room 'apology' to BB (not to Deana) and goes on as above than proper sanctions for the apparent cock-ups and cover-ups is very alarming indeed.

I have been thinking about this and it still seems odd to me that he wasn't thrown out. There would possibly been some publicity for the show - maybe even some it would have been positive. I understand they might be afraid of legal repercussions but then that could work either way. Seems like a missed opportunity.

She was randomly picked by an independent adjudicator. As an individual she was not set up, it could have been anyone bar Becky, who had that task. I would agree that it did cause hostility towards her though, definitely from Lydia who still feels that Deana should not have picked her and very possibly from Conor as well.

Maybe they were afraid of Conor's reaction if he was thrown out over his behaviour towards Deana. Can you imagine him going quietly away to lick his wounds? No, neither can I. I can, however, imagine him ranting about his dislike for Deana to anyone who would listen and perhaps bringing more bad publicity for the programme. Keeping him in, getting one over on his friend and walking away with £50,000 gave him something to crow about instead.

I have a feeling that if you were able to be a fly on the wall in the production meeting the next day you would have heard something like this:

Prod A - So what are we going to do about Conor?

Prod B - Well I've spoken to legal and they say that as we've given him a warning and he's said he's sorry, we can keep him in.

Prod C - Thank God for that, he'll be good for ratings as people love to see a fit jack the lad.

Prod A - But more than that, he could be worth loads of phone dosh if he gets put up. We need to keep the divide going to max the phone rev.

Prod B - Yes, the public want people to hate more than people to love, and with a vote to save they may have to vote for several other HMs just to get one HM out.

Prods A, B and C - Lovin it!

Yep! I think that money was the main reason for keeping him in. The result of the first eviction led them to believe that he was possibly one of the most popular HMs in the house and BB would have known that a lot of those votes came from people unlikely to switch their allegiance to another HM.

I think some fms are like some of the hms, they decided they disliked Deana from the off and so won't give her even a tiny chance. It has now become a habit that they are finding hard to break

And the sad thing is that it still goes on after the series is over! Deana is no longer in a popularity contest, she doesn't have any more votes to win or lose. She no longer has to please BB viewers or DS forum members. She can do whatever she likes. We no longer have any direct control over her fate.

1.oh well it was a few seconds, lets no quibble whether it was 12 or 16 seconds
2. You don't like the word puerile ?
3. Who was harmed? It wasn't anything like your analogy Im afraid, thats a bit silly in its exaggeration IMO.
4. Nobody bullied her and there was no problem. She didn't make a single complaint and neither did anyone else in there.

I see you refer to him speaking as ranting, ok well that explains it.
I didn't like any of them and will give you £1million if you can find me saying they were all sweetness and light. Deana does have a potty mouth, it doesn't mean for a moment that I think everyone else didn't have a potty mouth or was lovely.
If you want a conversation where everyone just says you are correct and loves Deana..... DS invented the AT's

OFFCOM wont find in her favour, they wont find anything because its irrelevant nonsence.

I've rarely seen such an incredible fabrication embraced by a number of FM's. Such a small insignificant event has been repeated and enlarged and emboldened until people are convinced that it actually was a notable event. It's puzzling, but I can see that some people are very invested in it so. I'm done

I do think that Deana's AT might be a useful place to discuss how marvellous people think she is , if they do, because variation on that theme seems to attract a lot of criticism.
I shall leave it there.
