I had BT vision about 3-4 years ago, It wasn't great back then, content wasn't updated that much, I had issues with freezing, the box was slow and sluggish, the list could go on, Have things gotten any better? I would be tempted to return.

Apart from the fact that I think your points are not valid today, I would suggest you forget about the current box. The new BT Youview box will be announced soon which be a different ball game.

New content is updated every Thursday, I would say there is far more than 3-4 years ago.

I would say its improving and expanding all the time and well worth the £12.50 a month, which includes ESPN.

Do they charge £40 again if you have already paid it once?

Like any service, this site has got its BT boys who wouldn't say a bad word about it irregardless of what they offered. Your best bet is to take a look over at the BT forums on their website as you can read the complains etc. From everything I've read though I think you'd be absolutely mad to sign up now to a service with stale content and not a huge lot of quality offerings. Free ESPN is about the only selling point!

Wait until YouView details are announced and weigh it up against TalkTalk and Sky and see which one comes out on top for your needs.

I have had BT Vision since 2008 and for me, it is ideal. It will not be ideal for everyone though. Whether it is or it isn't depends on your own circumstances, what you want (by way of channels, sports, broadband etc) and what you want to pay.

BT should be announcing their YouView packages in the autumn, new boxes, new IPTV chanels so the packages on offer may well be completely different to what is available today.

I think that promo-only's advice is spot on. The content has become increasingly stale over the last few months. BT Vision may be simply marching time until they announce details of their You View service. Best to wait until then and compare with other services.

Spot on. Like any service it's all down to personal preference and what you are happy with in exchange for your subscription fee. Some will love it, others not so much.

The OP can see what's currently on offer here

Personally, I think the BT Vision package has improved hugely over the last few years with a huge amount of on-demand content that's updated weekly. That said, I do agree with a few posters, don't sign up yet and wait until BT reveal their BT Vision Youview offering.

True, but it also has whingers and Sky people who would say anything positive if the box was made of gold and spewed fivers. BT's forum is a support forum so naturally what you see there is people looking for help and will therefore be mostly negative. The majority who have no problems just have no need to go there so you don't hear from them. Look at any company's support forum and you wouldn't touch them with a bargepole if you mistake it for balanced comment.

As others have been saying changes are afoot so it may be better to wait until they're announced before making a decision.

I would have got BT Vision a year or so ago but I have been holding off till BT YouView came out. As the now BT dont offter the Freeveiw HD channels.
I do watch sport but as some know I dont watch enough sport to be paying for it.
I think I would maybe just get a basic package when the YouView service from BT starts.
I hope in time BT will offer the service to another TV in the house and not just to the main TV. Like Sky and Virgin Media already do.

If like me you hate prolonged periods of adverts while watching a program BT Vision seems to have less advertising than the others, I know that ads can be edited out with any PVR but the Vision service is a great help..................................Here's hoping it stays that way.

Aww, you were doing so well until you mentioned Picture Box.
