O2 remaining credit

Hi
I am thinking of joining virgin pay monthly as we already have tv, broadband etc with them. But i have £209 remaining credit on O2 pay and go, does anyone know if this could be used to put towards purchasing a new phone for one of my kids, they are staying with O2. If not could it be added to their credit?

Thanks for any help

If memory serves, if you put it towards a phone you only get like 10% of it.
As for transferring it to another account, my guess would be that there's something in the T&Cs that says they won't, same for simply giving you the money back again.

That said, I am aware of occasional instances when O2 have refunded huge amounts of credit even though they're not obliged to (though I think that was just for customers who were moving to an O2 contract, so they had a reason to try and keep them happy).
You may as well ask.

thanks step, contacted tham and it was a NO to putting towards a new phone, and a NO to transferring credit unless the other number is less than 28 days old. So i am pretty goosed really.

Are there any places where you can purchase items using credit?

Actually, someone asked that very same question the other day: http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1721520

If the other person who answered in the thread is correct, you may in fact be able to get your money back.
Got to be worth looking into anyway.

could you move the number to o2 pay monthly 30 day sim only so the credit balance is transferred to, then the pay monthly account is in credit and then request a refund

Another suggestion. You will however loose 40% of your credit.

A while back I sent an email to O2 customer relations team. They agreed to refund the credit. I was only about £20.00 though.

Am I the only one wondering how or why the hell the OP has topped up a sim that clearly didn't need topping up to the point where they have so much credit on it?

A lot of people on PAYG, O2 in particular, fall into the habit of topping-up every month so they get their free minutes/texts/etc, even if they already have a lot of credit on there.
Just human nature I guess.

When I was on o2 pay as you go. Back in 07. I held a lot of credit. Simply Just using my allowance up.

Surely once you've accumulated £50 or so credit you'd just think to yourself "I don't need to top up for my allowance this month and can just use my credit and top up again when it has run out"

Seems mad to build up such a large balance especially when it introduces problems like the OPs when you want to switch

i appreaicte all the comments, i know have been daft building it up, but always thought, well its there if i ever have a real emergency, feel a knob now, but wont top up now til it goes.
