They discussed Lady Gaga performing this song a few weeks ago on This Morning and ITVs royal reporter dude said William wasn't very happy about it. I've not heard anything else on the subject though so perhaps the British press were asked not to highlight the track?

I can understand William not being happy with it. It's shameless attention seeking from GaGa

Isn't that fan made?

Why doesn't she sing about her own life? I'd be pissed if someone started singing about my dead mother.

Yes it's not Gaga singing and it's just bad..

Plus - as I remember - the song is about Gaga and actualy has little or nothing to do with Diana

But even as a fan I don't like the song anyway

exactly. It has nothing to do with Diana at all. She didn't spell it with an I but IE.

The video isn't great. I like the song though but I'd love to hear a studio version.

Did people even listen to the song before passing judgement?

It's not really about Princess Diana.

It's about the black death that fame brings. Through paparazzi and the lonely mental state that fame brings. The song is not about Diana, but how the general mentality is when fame kills a star.

I hate people not actually listening, but just bandwagon jumping.

To be fair. People aren't bandwagon jumping and I don't think people have an issue with the song itself. I think its one of her best.

However.... the title is clearly a take on Princess Di. There is no two ways about it and Gaga knew exactly what she was doing by calling the song that. Princess Die actually has no meaning within the song. So the title is worthless to the lyrics. Thats why people are disgusted.

The title is relevant to the song, though.

It's a dark song about blonde icons being consumed by Fame, their untimely deaths and the exhibition of it all. I think the title is not only supposed to be a spin on Princess Di, but also connote the demand of the crowd "Die, Princess Die", i.e. the public love the scandal and entertainment of another fallen icon.

It's also a personally reflective song about some very dark feelings she was having. Judging by the songs content, I dunno if she'll explicitly go public about that...cus the media will jump on her if she said that she considered suicide or nearly died. Assuming that's even what she means.
