Touchscreen phones in general are great - is it a particular phone that you are having a problem with or touchscreens in general?

How can a touch screen be too sensitive?

I think the OP was commenting in general rather than a dodgy phone.

It is surprising how sensitive they can be especially when not used to them though, I do chuckle when I see my mum using mine.

I seriously dont understand what a sensitive touch screen means. Does it mean it moves too smoothly with your finger? Dust on it acts like your finger?

Some of the early touch screens were shocking, the worst I used was a Tocco.

I never thought I'd move away from a physical keyboard for work email etc. but with the Galaxy SII and III and any iPhone I've been happy over the last couple of years.

The only thing I'm not too much for are touch screen joypad controls on games, they obscure too much of the screen for me.

Need a bigger screen phone.

I thought I would have problems, after many years using a Nokia e 71with its physical keyboard, but the change over only took a couple of days. Now I have installed a 'Swype' style keyboard on my Desire S it is actually far faster than a physical keyboard.

(I use TouchPal if you're interested)

I have nothing against touch screen phones - apart from sending messages and e-mails.

Every touch screen i have had - the tabs are just too small and sensitive and i have finally decided not to have anymore.

I have recently opted for a nokia asha 300 which is part touch screen and texting is done by a normal key-pad.

The nokia is a brand i always go back to and this phone is a little more advanced than my old nokia 3410...

I just text someone using a Nokia 3310 as I'm buying another iPhone 3GS as I broke mine trying to put in a new battery! Man was it antiquated - I chuckled bait at how primitive the whole experience was - plus thinking ' oh so this is why Nokia are so crap' reminder

My fiancee was strongly against touchscreen phones, she didn't like them and refused to use them, it took some convincing but I finally got her to switch from a BlackBerry to a Samsung Galaxy S3

I heard a rumor that the reason they made touch screen smart phone is to have consumers lose or have it stolen more frequently so they have to buy new ones. i completely think it is bias but whatever

Early touchscreen phones were awful. Tocco (as someone mentioned) was awful. However now I think touchscreens are brilliant,. My phone has a 4.3inch touchscreen and is great to use.

Dont some Smartphones have a setting for touch screen sensitivity ? As some of us are more heavy handed then others etc - In my Opinion once youve used a touch screen phone, theres no going back !

Having had both a Galaxy S2 and a Nexus for quite a while now, and despite all the people on here who say "you get used to it"...

I still hate onscreen keyboards. If someone built something equivalent to either of those with a landscape, slide out, hard keyboard I'd buy it like a shot.

I've got used to touch screen phones and for a lot of things they're awesome. I still can't type as quickly or as accurately on any of them as I could on my old Palm Treo though. I was a texting whizz on that!

when you just hold the phone it does things without you pressing anything, when you do press an icon it jumps to stages instead of one. in general i have thick fingers, and heavy handed. and this phone is a no no.. for me..

I think you have answered your own question there.....IMO they are not over sensitive and don't act as yours do generally....

Try putting on a screen protector, it will slightly reduce sensitivity.
