Wii help please!

Rather urgent as I have a birthday boy in tears

Wii is a couple of years old, working fine yesterday, got a new sky landers game for birthday today, and e dry things gone horribly wrong!

Every disc that's put in results in a black screen with a message saying 'an error has occurred, pease eject disc, switch the wii off and refer to your handbook for troubleshooting' I can't find the blooming handbook, looked it up online and seems to be suggestions from motherboard issues to laser problems. I've switched it all off, left it for a while, tried other discs etc etc nothing's worked - any ideas that might get working?

Help! I feel awful that he's being so grown up and saying 'it's ok mummy' when I can see he's soooooo upset! He's been so excited about the game!

You can get in touch with Nintendo repair service. http://www.nintendoservicecentre.co.uk/

If it's still under warranty, it won't cost anything to fix and you'll either get a new unit with the contents of the NAND memory copied over, or a straight forward repair.

It may take a few weeks to get fixed though. But the chaps just down the road at Grossostheim (Ninty's european headquarters) do a top job of fixing the consoles

I would if I could but finance won't stretch to a new one at the moment!

How long is the Warrenty? I can't see it still being valid tbh, as it's a few years old (at least!). Will call them anyway see if they have any suggestions, poor little man is off to a friends house to play the game there, so he can at least play it!

It may be worth trying the official lens cleaner before doing anything else. It sounds a bit more serious than a dirty lens though, but for the sake of a few pounds it might be worth a try.

The minimum warranty period on any electronics within the EU, is 2 years. If it's older than that then you'll be charged something for the repair.
