Already #4 & #10 on Ireland's itunes album chart which is a good sign that it could enter the the top 10 both in Ireland and the UK.

Her last album entered at #15.

Personally I think it will début in the top 5. Rita is a sure fire #1 next week with such low album sales and Paloma has just overtaken Emeli on itunes so my prediction is #4.

#1 - Rita Ora
#2 - Paloma Faith
#3 - Emeli Sande
#4 - Alanis Morrisette
#5 - Of Monsters and Men

Having started the other HABL thread (or HARBL if that means anything...) and being a massive Alanis fan from way back. I have to say... About 43.

No promo until DS and the papers this week. Guardian released the day before the album, seriously?!

Even with the collective behind her, this will flop badly.

It will probably go top 10 in the US. Her last album never made the top 10 in the UK but her new one might since sales are generally low this time of the year and it won't need to sell a huge amount to do so. It sounds like a pretty decent album.

It is a decent album. Some amazing tracks. Just not sure the UK cares any more. Sad times.

Currently #16 & #21 on itunes.

technically #8 &10 if you take anyway the singles and various artists album which don't chart on the album chart.

Hope this is a good sign

Guardian is no where to be seen in the top 200

Surprised Rita Ora isn't #1 on itunes though :/

It's my least favourite album from her at present! Would be happy for her to do well, that'd kinda make up for Flavours flopping.

I have yet to listen to it in full yet but Guardian is better than most stuff of her last two albums so I've got high expectations.

You should all track down the bonus tracks too. Big Sur, Permission, Guru, No, Tantra, Jekyll and Hyde. They are pretty high standard.

No, they are scattered around the world on a ridiculous amount of versions.

No - Japan
Big Sur, Guru, Permission - Target only bonus tracks
Jekyll & Hyde UK iTunes
Tantra - US amazon only

They are 'available' in many places though...

#8 in the midweeks. #7 belongs to Lucy Spraggan who will obviously drop as it's now been deleted from itunes so hopefully a top 10 entry is in order.

I have never really got into Alanis really. But my god this album is great. I really love it. I only listened to it because i was in a "new curious music mood".

I love those moods, I literally just buy loads of albums of singers and bands that I've never heard of.

It is a very good album, she will never top Under Rug Swept though.

I actually think it'll go top ten, we got quite a lot of copies in at work - and new release wise this week wasn't that big. There was only really Alanis and Rita Ora that stood out to me (and Seth MacFarlane has an album out haha).

Under Rug Swept is a really nice album not her best i always get the impression it gets played in starbucks alot it has that overall vibe not to diminish it though it has some of my fave tracks Hands Clean, So Unsexy, Precious Illusions, Flinch, That Particular Time.

I think this album is reminiscent of the more mystical vibes of Flavours but calmer more serene i always like her subtle or extreme changes but them allways being a snapshot it deserves top 10 Flavours was robbed.

Flavours is the only one of her albums I've not listened to. I don't know why I've never bought it, just haven't.

But Hands Clean is the best song of her career IMO.

It is fantastic.

Saw her in concert recently and she did a blistering live version. The whole concert was great.

I like the feeling of Flavours more than perhaps the vibe of Havoc which is for once a continuation.

And i love Hands Clean it took me ages to listen to Under Rug Swept but it is a decent album for me not the best song of her career but definitely top 5 like a softer You oughta know looking back with age and maturity on the same subject i love how she always goes back whilst constantly evolving.

Yeah I get what you mean. I guess I have a soft spot for Under Rug Swept because I can relate to it a lot, Hands Clean and So Unsexy in particular.

It's like she wrote an album based on my life.

Yeah URS is softer but for me it's just perfect. That I would be good sounds like it should have been URS, love that one to.

Alanis is basically a poster child for ‘new age trendy spirituality’, she is also extremely pretentious, annoying and her songs often over wordy. She is also a brilliant musician, highly intelligent, a great writer and naturally spiritual. I love her for of her contradictory traits.
