Need advice!
Hi!
I'm looking to buy a new phone. Ideally I don't want to spend a lot. I would mainly use it for calls and texts, and occasional checking emails. I wouldn't be using it for anything energy draining like surfing the net for hours and watching film etc. I don't need to listen to music, or use many apps. I was thinking of getting a blackberry or the samsung galaxy y or ace..I'd prefer a samsung, but the main concern for me is battery life. I really don't want to be charging it every day. Every 3 days or more is fine though. Do you think it would be possible the way I plan to use it? Or is a blackberry more suited to my needs? If so, which one? Or is there any other phone that anyone could recommend? Thank you in advance?

Don't think you will find what you are after probably have to compromise. If you get a smartphone you really can't expect it to last three days between charges even if you are a light user. You would probably be better off with a normal feature phone which will let you check your emails.
your only hope if you want a smartphone and can't charge it every day or so may be something like the razr maxx but this is more than the phones you have mentioned. In all honesty I have never seen how long a phone could last being careful maybe someone can help you but three days is a while. |

Yes, blackberry will give you the longest battery life...unless you go for a second-hand symbian phone (made by Nokia) those could last several days too.
Go with a provider like O2 or vodafone and you can set your phone to 2G most of the time and just turn 3G for email checking. Be aware that blackberry phone plan will work out slightly more expensive as you have to pay for the Blackberry Internet Service package, but the handsets themselves will be cheaper. iPhone, Android, Windows Phone - these shouldn't be expected to last you more than the day. Which blackberry you get just matters on the size/shape you like and your budget. |

If battery life is your biggest concern, then the only viable Blackberrys would be the 9300 and 9320 which will give you at least your 3 day life (depending on calls). The 9360, 9810 and 9900 will not give you more than 1.5-2 days.
For calls and texting any BlackBerry in the range, even the now defunct 8250 will do the job just fine. It's more a question of what else you want from the handset that will narrow down the choice. I don't think either of the Samsung's you have mentioned will manage more than 1 day battery life. The BB will also give you push email without compromising on battery or data use. |
