I love Paramore and deeply upset at this decision... good enough to be on the main stage but not on TV?

Its the band's decision not the BBC's! Maybe they were nervous as its the first really big UK show they've played in a while/with new band members? I get the impression this was something they really wanted to do as NME reported that Hayley was raving about The Cure on stage.

Isn't Hayley the only signed member of the 'band'? By all means and purpose she is the band

That's the BBC for you. They will repeat the same bands over and over, they are always so partial.

It doesn't seem to matter whats on the main stage, if the gatekeepers don't like it, you won't see it.

I love the BBC as a whole, but when it comes to music, they try and dictate what gets popular.

They aren't a band anymore, more so a group. Back in the early days they'd of replaced the drummer and guitarist straight away but now they just have touring members so not to mess with the Paramore brand... :\

Artists have to give the BBC permission to broadcast their performance.

I'm sure the BBC would broadcast it if they could.

In the past they've had to show Glasto headliners on a time delay to they could cut certain songs from the broadcast at the insistence of the band.

Josh Freese was on Devo's last UK tour - quality drummer.

The BBC had every intention of broadcasting some of Paramore's set, one of their highlights programmes even had them in the title, but during the first hour of yesterday's coverage, they denied permission to be filmed.

Nothing anyone can do. It's a shame and a little odd, they haven't been performing any new material and have done a few warm-up gigs too, but they still mustn't feel too confident with the new lineup or something?

Why slag the BBC?

That's fair enough, but even excluding bands that don't want to be recorded, the BBC do have their favourite bands that seem to get repeated many times, whereas other stuff might only appear once.

As I said before, I like the BBC, agree with the license fee, but when it comes to music their a bunch of hipsters.

The band is now three members. Hayley, Jeremy and Taylor. They write and play everything. Jeremy and Taylor are just as much part of the band as Hayley.

In regards to not being shown on the BBC at Reading and Leeds, they chose (as a band) not to be recorded due to the fact that they'd played the same album cycle at the festival a couple of times so would rather be filmed next time they play, with new material. Sounds like a pretty poor excuse IMO - and loads of bands get shown playing the same old stuff over and over again at festivals, even when they have newer material!

I get the impression Paramore only took this booking as Hayley wanted to play before The Cure, arguably it would have been better to come back when they have a new album (and possibly headline if it does well?).
