And that is absolutely fine, but what you have to remember is that most iPhone users or people looking to buy iPhones probably aren't into their tech as much as you. I tend to find people who like messing around with this stuff tend to be Android users. This case will not dissuade your average joe.
Agreed. Most of the people on this forum are into their technology and are not representative of the general public.

I had 2 iphones, 2 macs and 2 ipads. I now have none because i dont want to associate myself with this evil, nasty, lying and foolish company.

So, so far with 2 people that's lost apple what, £5.5k or so?

Some people don't want to be associated with companies like this.
You're deluded if you think other companies are all sweetness and light and don't tell lies. They're all out to screw you for every penny they can. Apple didn't invent the concept

Did you buy a windows PC when Microsoft where in court by the US government for monopolisation? Or did you switch to Mac because Microsoft were certainltly not innovating at that time.
I didn't give a toss, but i didn't see them ruining the industry either.

Also your comparison breaks down, if MS was monopolising, Apple isn't.

I've been following this case to a certain degree and I'm extremely disappointed to see Apple win on basically all fronts while Samsung are completely ignored. I agree that the first Galaxy phone did copy aspects of the original iPhone, but then so did many phones that came out in 2007...

Some of the things Apple are claiming as their own are ridiculous (one finger scrolling?!) and the general designs of the phones (rectangular in shape, curved edges...) Also, for people to say Android is a direct copy of iOS is ludicrous. Android was in development before iOS and is a completely different beast - it's a much better beast for a start.

What I've noticed is that the US courts have a tendency to side with Apple, whereas in the rest of the world, where Apple has no power hold, the courts are a lot stricter and aren't afraid to tell Apple where to go.

Oh no, im under no illusion other companies dont do this but, apple seem to be the worst offender.

I wonder why no television company has sued each other for them all looking rectangular and displaying pretty much the same info when channels are changed?.....

Absolutely, every big corporation would do what Apple have done if they could. They are all out to make money. Some people act as if these guys are charitable organisations compared to Apple.

Indeed. Apple lost in South Korea today!

Ive said it before but i dont understand why Samsung were not allowed to include evidence that showed they had developed phones that looked like that before the iphone. And also were not allowed to include that Apple very nearly ripped Sony off.

Very weird!

Also if i was Samsung right now i would be withholding all shipments of parts since they make most of the iphone and ipad.
I bet this is because they are different companies internally. Sony are the same. Even different territories of Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) dont help each other. Each part needs to turn a good profit to stay alive.

"Samsung parts" is just a factory. Sounds harsh, but its nothing to do with the phone division.

There'd be no point TV makers suing each-other for that, because the patents were filed by John Logie Baird

Yes i know but not widescreen versions. The point is, tellys all look the same and no one bats an eyelid. Apple copy a design from LG for the iphone then others come out and apple sue thinking they invented it.

Its like Samsung pretending they invented the shape of the telly!

Oh it will. Im just an average joe and my Mrs is as well and binned her apple stuff.

This will liely cost apple some sale. May not be a lot but if they carry on like this much longer, it can only get worse.
That's absolute nonsense. It won't cost Apple any sales. Apple shares are up again in after hours trading on Wall St. They'll soar again on Monday.

At the end of the day I think Samsung would have been quite happy to licence from Apple but Apple's price was far too high - $30 per phone and $40 per tab which is ridiculous.

Apple knew they would win this, and it's nothing to do with the money it's a arrogant warning shot the rest of the industry telling them this will happen.

Apple needs Samsung and Samsung needs Apple.

The bit in bold is absolutely correct.

Although im not sure what Samsung would be licensing from Apple. Surely its the other way round since apple use everyone else's tech!

I would also say Apple needs Samsung more then Samsung needing Apple since they make the bulk of iphone and ipad components.

Perhaps if the tools at Apple hadn't been control freaks & had less restrictions on their overpriced devices, then just maybe more people may have stuck with them & not gone onto Android. Apple have thrown their toys out of the pram like little cry baby bitches, because they hate the fact the people are going after devices that they have more control over. I really hope that Samsung get a win in other parts of the world with suing Apple & that Motorola gets a win over the Siri patent

At the end of the day, this is far from over. Apple have poked the beast & they will get bit. They won't get their obsession of world domination as more & more people are continuing to purchase Android machines.

That's very true. And consumers too need lots of choice and healthy competition. Good for the industry too, that everyone strives to outdo the others.
