Appears the case is still going and there has been some problems found.

Wow. I don't know if your joking.
The fact this could cost apple more in sales than they win? Heavy handed companies never continue to do well and this may be what happens to Apple. |

Lol. A company which rightfully protects its intellectual property makes you not want to buy something from it?
You mean what they pinched from other people? Namely LGs design to then using other people tech in the phones (motorola) and not paying the required fees..... |

Its the stiffling innovation which they are doing which i vulgarly detest with vomit which makes me not want to buy something from them ever again. |

If you're going to design a device that has the maximum possible screen size for a particular sized device, it is inevitable that they will look similar. It is would be almost impossible to design anything that looked very different, as space is limited. Things that are obvious because of design constraints or considerations(eg no sharp edges) should not be allowed to be patented,

Let's bookmark this thread for a years time. I will make a prediction that iPhone 5 will be Apple's biggest phone ever. You say that sales will be affected. Let's come back in a year and see who's correct.

Apple's stock shows no sign of slowing down, and this last quarter will be huge for the company. This news will be in the papers for a day and that's it. It's not going to have this massive effect to the public. The opposite will probably happen, shareholders will be very confident the next time Apple go into court.
No one knows what's going to happen i guess but the fact myself and another on this thread of the same 5 or so people replying, refuse to buy another apple product, and the many ive seen on the XDA forums shows it is having an impact. Maybe not a big one but an impact nevertheless. |

Samsung's attorneys are now arguing that the jury's finding of patent exhaustion not be valid because one of the prerequisites for patent exhaustion is that Apple's devices had infringed in the first place.
Blimey.

If you mean the FRAND patents. Google and everyone were doing the same. Google only managed to accquire MM a few months ago - and it was a very strategic move. There's going to be loads of lawsuits coming from that. http://www.appleinsider.com/articles...ent_power.html
its a bloody mess. |

There shouldn't be a need for "strategy" when it comes to patents!!!! It goes against the entire bloody point of the laws.

In the long term, we're sure to see lots of UI behaviors change across Android — most companies have already moved away from the bounceback scrolling behavior protected by the Apple patent in this case, and we're sure to see tap-to-zoom and multitouch scrolling behavior affected on new devices as well. We're also sure to see new handsets adopt highly differentiated designs, as Apple has proven both its design patent and trade dress claims are strong enough to persuade a jury. That's already happening, and it's a good thing; Samsung's the only phone maker Apple has sued for copying the iPhone's design, and its more recent devices like the Galaxy S III already have unique designs. More differentiation in the market is ultimately good for consumers.
It's the connection Apple makes with the jury rather than forcing technical terms, that much money on 9 people.

This verdict is a gunshot wound to the head of innovation and creativity from point blank range with fatal implications.

I guess the good thing is, if companies remove features from Android because of this, the OS is so well supported they can be added back anyway!

Why should simple things like gestures be protected? It means that every new developer has to come up with it's own unique set of gestures. That is ridiculous.

Actually, looking more into this, it will only affect the US.
