Iphone 5 and ipad mini to feature a new dock connector
So all your existing iDevice chargers, keyboards, docks etc will no longer work on the new iphone and ipad mini. Strange and annoying decision.

New iDevices come with a charger, so I don't see that as an issue, unless you have a 3rd party charger for foreign travel. Keyboards... Aren't they virtually all Bluetooth? I didn't think you could get iDevice keyboards that used the dock, other than the now discontinued iPad 1 keyboard dock. Docks... True. Although I'm sure Apple will release an adaptor, for a price

Or you could get a a non-apple one, my cheap 99p mini-USB to Dock Connection (instead of an apploe branded one) works wonders, so when at a friends house I can charge my iPhone without issue.

It's probably about time it changed. The 30 pin dock has been used for over five years now. The smaller the dock the more can fit inside the device including bigger battery.
