All I Want For Christmas Is You - Mariah Carey

Ok, I hate the woman and this is the only song of hers I like but it is the perfect pop Christmas song.

Theres some good ones on the Barenaked Ladies album "Barenaked for the holidays". Their version of Do They Know It's Christmas is better than the newest one :P

Has to be The Pogues and Kirsty McCall with The Fairytale of New York for me (mind you, always makes me feel sad about Kirsty when I hear it now).

For me...

The Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl - Fairtytale of New York

No contest, ageless, timeless perfection. The only Xmas song that doesn't make me want to tear my own ears off.

Besides all the great songs mentioned above, I also like these two:

I Believe In Father Christmas - Greg Lake
Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy - Bing Crosby & David Bowie

My kids love this one and play it to their Grandma (they are evil ):

Grandma Got Runover By A Reindeer - Elmo and Patsy

I have not heard many Christmas songs played on the radio yet just the odd one or two. One of my local radio statons did play the odd country Christmas song on its two hour country radio show last sunday night.

Lyrics for Song: Mary Did You Know
Lyrics for Album: Gift
Mary, did you know
that your baby boy will one day walk on water?

Mary, did you know
that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?

Did you know,
that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered,
will soon deliver you.

Mary, did you know
that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?

Mary, did you know
your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?

Did you know,
that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little baby,
you've kissed the face of God.

The blind will see
The deaf will hear
The dead will live again.
The lame will leap
The dumb will speak
The praises of The Lamb.

Mary, did you know
that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?

Mary, did you know
that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?

Did you know,
that your baby boy is heaven's perfect lamb?
This sleeping child you're holding, is the great I AM.

Happy Birthday Jesus!
A Very Merry Christmas to ALL Of You!
Please Remember..
JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON!!!

I'll never forget where I was when I heard that Kirsty has passed on. I was preparing for my radio show when I cued up IRN. On hearing the sad news, I promptly dumped my jingle & opening song and played "Fairytale Of New York" straight after the news.

My current Christmas Top 10 is as follows:-

1) Greg Lake – I Believe In Father Christmas

2) Wendy & Carnie Wilson – Let It Snow

3) Rudy & The Rialtos (Featuring Wolfman Jack) – Christmas Tears Will Fall

4) The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl – Fairytale Of New York

5) Chris Rea – Driving Home For Christmas

6) Elton John – Step Into Christmas

7) Nat King Cole – The Christmas Song

8) The Pretenders – 2000 Miles

9) Freiheit – Keeping The Dream Alive

10) The Waitresses – Christmas Wrapping

Bing Crosby's version of "White Christmas" is in a league of its' own.
