It's bird poo that's one source of worms, so if your cat regularly catches and kills birds, they need worming and those who aren't wormed are just lucky if they don't have problems further down the line. It's known for snails to get worms as a result of wondering through bird poo, their eyes glow a white / green colour and looks revolting - it was shown in a David Attenborough programme once.
