So fantastic that Will has the lead role in the new stage musical "Cabaret"

He is a horrible man and it saddens me a bit that he is still getting work.

Good for Michelle Ryan though. I love seeing her do well.

The show will be on at The Savoy Theatre in London for 4 months from beginning of October. Will will be taking the part of the Emcee, and Michelle Ryan as Sally. It's quite a 'dark' musical and I can't wait to see it

Will Young? WILL YOUNG?!? You have got to be joking! What's next, a remake of The Krays with Jedward in the lead roles? Susan Boyle as Evita?

It'll be great! Can't wait to see the show myself next week. Last time I saw it Wayne Sleep played the Emcee and was pretty good.

Shame about the stupid replies you've had to start with, I'm sure after ten years in show business Will is well used to such narrowmindedness and ignorance and as usual will be brilliant. Such a talented guy.

Do you actually know the storyline or have you ever watched a version of Cabaret? I'm sure Will Young will play the character of Emcee very well.

Good luck to him

There have been other popstars who have done musicals before so it's really not a shock and I fail to see the flack Will is getting

Kimberley Walsh did Shrek last year and Gareth Gates recently did Legally Blonde

I wonder if posters here know that Will did a degree in drama? He has acted on stage and tv before and we know he can sing. He has a lot more experience than a lot of celebrity casting

I am not one of Will's rabid fans but this is the first comment ever I have seen like this. Most people within and without the industry think he is a nice bloke

I think good on him just a shame hes not sticking with the music as his last album was good and im not a big fan. I dont like it when singers jump from pop to stage. Smacks to me of desperate measures and record company forcing him maybe. watch me get beat up now.. just saying..

I saw Will in Oscar Wilde's "The Vortex" a few years ago. It was on for a few months. It was a straight acting play - no singing or dancing, and I thoroughly enjoyed it

He was in the film "Mrs Henderson Presents" with Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins, and of course he was also in "Skins", so he has quite a lot of acting experience

Cabaret is not the normal frothy musical, it is quite dark. I really look forward to seeing it

What evidence have you got that he is a horrible man.I have only ever seen him being a very humble guy who never says a bad word about anyone, even though sometimes he is given a very bad time from some quarters.I love him,so good luck to him.

I don't think Will's jumping from pop to stage, because as I said in my last post, over the last 6/7 years he has mixed his acting with his singing, and as his latest 5th studio album "Echoes" got to number 1 last year, after being in the business for over 10 years, I wouldn't call that desperate measures for him, but I know what you mean

Will has a dual career, singing & acting. Not your typical chart artist. He has been in talks for 3 years over doing Cabaret. It's a part he's always wanted to play. Many pop artists go into musical theatre when their pop career hits the skids but this certainly isn't the case with Will. His last (5th studio) album, Echoes has sold almost 500k. As for his record company forcing him you couldn't be further for the truth. Negotiations have taken longer as his label didn't want him to commit to too long a run so it doesn't delay his next album too much.

I'm not a huge fan, but I do like Will. Anyone who pissed Cowell off like he did during Pop Idol is ok in my book

I don't think you can judge Will's career in comparison to anyone else's'. He is and always will be a unique artist who follows his own path.

I like Will and hope that he does really well in Cabaret. He doesn't have a degree in drama though I think he did start a drama course but left it to do Pop Idol. His degree is in politics.

Going to see him at the Savoy when it opens there. I think he will be excellent in the role, but as hollowxmas says, it's the music I really want - particularly after Echoes. Fantastic album.

Sorry if I misunderstood your comments.

Really looking forward to seeing Will in this, though his music is my first love. After Echoes I can't wait to see what he has in store for us with album 6.

The Vortex was written by Noel Coward not Oscar Wilde. Will was also in the 1st series of TV's Bedlam.

But I do agree with some other posters that I'd sooner have his music, although he has very successfully juggled the two halves of his career.

Apologies for my silly mistake
