Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700
The Asus TF700 is due in the UK at the end of this month. On paper it looks to be the best Android tablet, albeit expensive. Apparently the £400 version won't be released here.
I am seriously thinking of getting one. I want something with a good screen, and plenty of I/O ports, and reasonable battery life. The Nexus 7 seems too small for me. Does anyone have any experience of the TF700, or reason not to buy? |

there are plenty of online reviews but I suspect you are not going to get many reviews here as its not even been released in the UK yet.
On paper it looks like best android tablet out there, quad core with full HD screen. You might want to check transfromer forum if you have any specific questions, http://www.transformerforums.com/for...y-forum-tf700/ |

I was hoping for real-world experience rather than magazine reviews. It's been out in the USA for a while, and we have some American readers on this forum.
If it had been available earlier I'd probably have bought one, but now everyone is announcing their new products so I'm not so sure. In the long run I think I want an Intel-based Windows 8 tablet. My impression is that Android's appstore isn't such a big advantage in tablets, because not all the apps scale well to tablet-sized screens. On the other hand, I've not yet seen a Windows 8 tablet that seems as good as the TF700. (PS thanks for the link; I did find that useful.) |

There are a few apps which work better in HD and these usually have a separate version for high resolution devices. |

I am seriously thinking of getting one. I want something with a good screen, and plenty of I/O ports, and reasonable battery life. The Nexus 7 seems too small for me. Does anyone have any experience of the TF700, or reason not to buy? I bought one of these while in the states last week. I got the 64GB grey + Keyboard from Amazon.com, £482 inc next day delivery to my hotel. The screen is very good but suffers from reflection in certain lighting conditions. You can turn up the brightness to counteract this somewhat. All apps I have used scale on the display just fine. On the main unit you have hdmi out, micro sd and headphone socket, usb via the 40 pin combined pwr/usb socket. On the keyboard you have std USB, full size SD and another 40 pin combo usb/pwr socket. I have run the device with both card slots and a USB key in place and it detected everything just fine. Using Dice Player, I can play 1080p rips fine and 720p scence rips with DD5.1 fine. There is a battery in the keyboard and using both batteries I've gone 10hrs so far. Hope that helps |

Thanks, yes. As it happens I finally caved and put in an order last night.
Do you use it both with and without keyboard, or much more one than the other? Do you find it needs a cover? You can get covers that are for both halves, or just for the tablet part. My feeling is that when the keyboard is attached and folded, that should protect the screen so a cover is less important. On the other hand, if it was right to buy a tablet not a notebook, I should often be using it without the keyboard and then a cover makes more sense. |

You may be better to have a look through that Android specific forum! Looks like an awesome device.

if its anything like TF101 then 99% of the time I have the dockstation attached as its also a useful stand. It also protects the screen when closed. When I am throwing it in the bag, I have a neoprene cover from the 99p for 10" netbooks.
