Somehow i think this wont be the case.

Sky have won their appeal, so they are free to roam and play dirty tactics now.

i suspect we will never see sky news HD or sky sports news HD.

Sky now are under no obligation to provide it to us. In time when the contract is up for renewal i can see us loosing SS1 and SS2 in HD.

Sky are under no obligation to provide SS1 and SS2 in HD to UPC ireland and they now have them. They also now have Sky News HD and Sky Sports News HD.

Maybe the opposite is true. By providing more HD channels, they make the package more attractive to Virgin Customers.

Maybe Sky have said you can have them for this price and part of the £3.25 increase in October is to cover part of the cost.??

Will not rule anything out. Remember when we just had BBC HD and now look

I bet you none of them will be sky, however If I am proved wrong then I will gladly put my hands up and admit defeat.

I just can't see it though.

All dreams... i used to love virgin, but that latest sports price hike, whether it be there fault or not is stll not justified...

I believe sky changed their wholesale price to 19.50ish, so virgin then charge 25.00!... i mean doesnt need that type of margin, they could of taken a bit of a hit for the sake of customers.

Doesnt look like they were prepared to do that, them and $ky are no better, when my contract is out i think youview might be my next option!

How do you know that? Do you have access to VM's accounts?

Media Boy is today reporting that some of the potential October channels may be from Sky. He reports talks on these as "ongoing". http://mediaboyblog.blogspot.co.uk/

The profit margin is negligible (or negative.) That 19.50ish (£19.41) is only for Sky Sports 1 & 2, you then have to add on the unregulated cost of Sky Sports 3 & 4 plus the additional cost for Sky Sports F1. On top of that you have to add on 20% VAT since the Luxembourg operation is no more plus the additional money held in escrow to cover the difference between the Ofcom price and Sky's rate card pricing. For the sake of the majority of customers they should not take a bit of a hit.

Yes sky always get there first cause they don't need the hefty carriage fee as cable do cause Satellites are an open frame work other sky companies and Virgin cable is a small fry and is a closed platform

I'm afraid, initially TCM HD (and TCM 2) will just be available to Sky customers, but we hope that Virgin Media customers will also have the channel in the near future. I'll keep you all posted with updates on this. Sorry to disappoint at this time.

TCM HD is launching on Sky on the 4th of September , TCM HD could be one of the channels launching on Virgin Media in October.

that sounds plausible, since thats from the Turner group, I would then most likely see CN HD along with it or any other Turner channels in HD.

Perhaps that's what they have secured?

Get yourself a Freesat HD box

Personally, I find Virgin more expensive than Sky

My Mother has Virgin but her bill is too large so she says she is going to go with Sky instead to cut costs

Channel 5+1 and 8 other channels will launch next month.

Eurosport 2 HD, TCM2 and TCM HD are not expected to be included in this tranche of additions.

Mediaboy does not work for VM, he gets his info. from forums, contacts etc.

Take a look at his blog for more info:

So TCM HD and Eurosport 2 HD could be in addition to the 8 other channels.

TCM on twitter also said something very similar to what they said on facebook.
@TopFilmTip At present TCM HD is only available to Sky customers. We hope to be able to bring the service to Virgin customers very soon.

Unfortunately, FX+1 and more4+1 will not be amongst the October additions. As Martine said, the only timeshift channel will be Channel 5+1.
