It's always been there, but my point stands, the idea is you press the red button not go to the channel on the EPG.

-------

ALSO MTV Classic is listing a Virgin EPG number on it's website of 321
http://www.mtv.co.uk/channels/mtv-classic

Isn't on the EPG yet so probably set to launch this week!
321 was the number it was on before it was removed years ago they just haven't updated their website yet

It would be pretty easy to encourage customers to switch over if you offered clear incentives and made it impractical to have an out of date receiver.

Cut non TiVo services down to practically nothing so that customers NEED a TiVo as their main receiver. It means more services are available that the customers can be charged for and the money comes back in.
More likely to encourage downgrading and churn than the desired effect in the current economic climate, unfortunately.

Good to hear and nice to see the Travel Channel back I remember when it was on 293 before it was dropped before.
That is good to have back. It was at least a proper channel about travel, not just about buying houses abroad, which is what the other ones became.

it used to be one of my favourite channels. I'm glad it's coming back.

Glad to see Travel returning, as well as Food Network, I'm happy now - Food Net. and NHK were the only channels I've missed since ditching Sky,

Another historic moment now. Watching Ch994 and the first HD Red Button broadcast from the BBC - tennis from Queens. And Red Button channels in SD on 992 and 993 have been added today in preparation for Glastonbury and Wimbledon. Good times!

Pity the EPG isn't right. 991 says its Springwatch and 994 says its "Coming Soon". Both have Live: Queens Tennis as next

My Tivo is accurate. 991 and 994 show tennis from 1100 - it was. Springwatch is shown on at 1400 on 991 only as not HD. That will probably be correct as tennis coverage is on BBC2HD from 1300.

Technically the HD streams used during the Olympics were the first HD Red Button Broadcasts.

The Scripps Networks' channels should be available soon:

Food Network - channel 287
Travel Channel - 288
All being well these channels are set to be added in just a couple of hours time

I think Virgin should try to get everyone switched over to Tivo, at least for their main receiver.

It has so many advantages over the basic receivers and having a single standard makes rolling out new services far easier.

At the moment, they have viewers with basic receivers, V+ receivers and Tivo. It must be awkward trying to keep everyone happy and everything working.

Tivo has a lot of promise that hasn't been entirely fufiled yet.
I know someone who still has an NTL box!

My bedroom receiver is actually an old silver Samsung NTL branded box.

I really liked MTV Classic and I was angry they let it go first time.

I'd love to see Scuzz coming back to VM too but that hasn't happened yet.

Also to be added:

MTV HD - 183
Nick HD - 714

That will make 35 HD channels included with TV XL. 36 if you add BBC Red Button HD.

I have to say that out of all of the missing Viacom channels, I would have preferred them to have added MTV Classic.

I am patiently waiting for Media Boy to rip this off and claim it as an "Exclusive".

http://mediaboyblog.blogspot.co.uk/

Why do Cable Forum tolerate him? Maybe because they have so few posters, so one sort of innovative poster gets adulation.

Actually... Media Boy always quotes Technix when he puts stuff up, he will only say it is exclusive if he is the first person to post it.

And let's face it, Cable Forum wouldn't have the views it gets without him.

So they adding BET which is the worst performing Viacom channel but not MTV Classic ? , if so then that makes no sense.

BET UK has a revamped schedule from 1st July with a more mainstream line up, losing a lot of the more specialist shows that focus on Caribbean and Gospel music etc. I'm sure they'll be hoping to improve its performance.

They're now promoting the Virgin launch on Facebook... but I think the might have got the wrong month?!
